    Vectrix VX1 - Scooter

Yes, but the CBT test costs about £100 and only lasts two years, or it has to be taken again if you don't follow it up with the motorbike theory test and then part one and two practical tests, (and pass them). It looks a very attractive bike to old car driving geezers like me, but UK law...

    Remove stuck bottom bracket

I think I'd favour shock tension rather than leverage to get it moving. Cwah mentioned already hitting the wrench with a hammer, but what sort of weight ? With the socket nicely bolted on as has already been achieved, I'd belt the end of the wrench with a one pound club hammer. The kinetic...

    Remove stuck bottom bracket

It looks like a stack of washers, maybe from the bag laying on the floor underneath. I guess Cwah is using a bolt to hold the socket on, with the washers as a spacer to avoid shortening that bolt.

    Windows 10

I also strongly disliked Windows 8 when it first appeared. I set up a couple of PCs for non-techy friends who had bought them. I felt like a fish out of water, the interface was so different from Windows 7, and I found great difficulty getting at things under the bonnet. The free games had...

Here is my experience with BMS Battery

I've also never had any problems with BMS. I've used them about 6 times over the past 4 years, and they've always delivered within a fortnight, and everything has worked ok. I had a 20" front wheel once which needed to be re-dished correctly, but that was very easy, by adjusting opposite side...

    Windows 10

I've used every version of Windows and also the DOS operating systems before it, as a home and also a professional IT punter. I soon learnt to wait a few months for the bug fix releases, or even skip a version, (like millenium and vista). I'm most grateful to the army of unpaid volunteer Beta...

Need to find strong tube for my rack

I agree with Neil, Stainless is much heavier than ally, and much more tricky to drill. I've made quite a few DIY mods to my bikes and trikes, and I've always found ally to be plenty strong enough if you use the appropriate wall thickness. By coincidence, I'm currently renovating a Linear...

PAS level 1 on 1000w direct drive motor too fast ?

Ok, I've now just back from a 12 mile test ride after changing the P3 parameter to 1, as Dave suggested, (thanks for that). It works fine now, with nicely adjustable PAS with the 1000w direct motor. I can pootle along at 15mph with assist level 1, with the motor giving about half the effort...

PAS level 1 on 1000w direct drive motor too fast ?

Ok, I've found the advanced settings PDF, it's on the BMS site at https://bmsbattery.com/index.php?controller=attachment&id_attachment=22 I'll print off a copy of it to keep with my other manuals. I'll try setting P3 as you suggest, and let you know the result.

PAS level 1 on 1000w direct drive motor too fast ?

Aha, thanks Dave. You've reminded me, (I think) that the S12S's LCD panel has an advanced setup menu, as well as the normal setup menu, or so I vaguely remember. I'd tried the standard setup, but that only has max speed/wheel diam/metric-english settings. I kept a printout of the standard...

PAS level 1 on 1000w direct drive motor too fast ?

I've been tinkering with my spares box, trying out a few combinations of motors and controllers and I've come across what seems like a strange anomaly, (to me anyway). I've hooked up an old (but hardly used) 1000w direct drive rear hub motor to a BMS S12S sine wave controller and a 48v 10ah...

How much power am I contributing?

Yes, I can appreciate the logic in the replies to my post querying the level of exercise between eBikes and conventional bikes. I'm definitely in the "low base" category from the point of view of exercise. I go with the consensus that ebiking has artificially enabled me to regularly...

How much power am I contributing?

That statement has surprised me, albeit that it was qualified with the word "some". I have no hard technical facts or links to counter it, but my overall impression of five years extensive eBiking does appear to have made me fitter, and I have lost weight, (even though I'm still about a foot...

    Balancing a 4S lipo pack with a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger ?

The BC168 arrived after only 6 days from HK. Great service from eBay seller rcecho-uk The bad 4S pack refuses to get above 2v on cell one when very carefully using the Accucel charger in NIMH mode, so not enough for any of the Lipo chargers take over. The other five packs are now balanced very...

    Balancing a 4S lipo pack with a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger ?

The cell in that pack is now showing 0 volts on the Hobbyking alarm meter, so I guess it's now a bin job anyway. :( Hopefully the BC168 will balance out the 0.2 volt difference in cell 1 of the other five 4S packs though. It looks as though the rogue cell in that one pack is what originally...

    Balancing a 4S lipo pack with a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger ?

I'm now fully convinced.... BC168 now ordered.... Thanks for the advice.

    Balancing a 4S lipo pack with a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger ?

I can't seem to find that option on the Accucel-6. The instructions and online info on it is fairly limited, but I am sure it doesn't allow charging through the balance leads, because whenever the main connections are not clipped on it shows a "disconnect" error. The SKYRC iMAX B6 charger you...

    Balancing a 4S lipo pack with a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger ?

Thanks for the very detailed response and ideas Jimmy, I'll work my way through your instructions carefully on the single charge through the balance lead and report back. My initial reading of the Accucell-6 was that I couldn't get it to charge at all though the balance leads, but I didn't try...

    Balancing a 4S lipo pack with a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger ?

Thanks for the link Dave. Yes, I remember you suggesting the BC168 before, it looks a much more sophisticated than my Accucell-6, albeit much more expensive. Despite me often being a tight git, I'm definitely weakening now, it looks like the best and most versatile long term solution for anyone...

    Balancing a 4S lipo pack with a Turnigy Accucell-6 charger ?

Thanks for the prompt replies Awol & Dave. I can understand the tips about using the NIMH mode and directly charging just that cell very slowly (presumably through the balance lead ?). I suppose I was surprised at the balance mode being so ineffective on the Accucell, though I do remember Dave...
