As d8veh said above.. 10% above the actual voltage is a 1/2 decent rule, but some times its cheaper (cos of preferred values and where your buying from) to go above that. As an aside... 63v can sometimes be cheaper than 50v for the same size

As with a lot of things... Buying the kit is the easy part, doing the work and having the tools is the hard bit. The kinda best / easiest crank drive kits to date for retro fitting are by GNG but even they have their 'issues' that are dependent upon the frame they are fitted to, and even hub...

The ratings are kinda a bit of a red herring when trying to work out what rms current is being used by each phase cos it's done by current / voltage block time rather than a nice conventional sine wave..... So go by the existing connectors size, if the new ones have a bigger connector area then...

Yep the lack of pots is a pita, however as the 'current' is only a voltage reading of the difference between the ends of the shunt, I'd have a look at how much solder is shorting the shunt / using thicker wire to the remote shunt (less voltage drop) / or removing some metal from the shunt it...
