Regenerative braking is commonplace on bikes using a direct drive motor. Energy recapture is usually minimal though and is a secondary benefit to saving on physical brake wear. The internal freewheel featured in geared motors prevents using them for regenerative braking.

Nice thought, but this isn't suitable for outputting more than 50W, which isn't enough power for even the weediest of chargers. Additionally, it doesn't contain anywhere near enough energy to refill even a quarter of a small ebike battery. 20.1Ah * 3.7V = 74.37Wh
