    Which LVA

There is an argument that these LVA's can make things less safe. If you forget to disconnect them, they will drain the first cell in your pack (they are powered by only a single cell), possibly causing irreversible damage.

    Newbie from Bristol

Hi. I'm not too far from you in Westbury. How technically minded are you? Are you set on buying pre-built? If you are competent, the most reliable bike is one built by and repairable by you.

Wuxing 108x confused ,genuine or copy

Nobody is counterfeiting Wuxing throttles. If it looks like a 108x, it's made by Wuxing. The variation in pricing simply reflects who is selling it, where it is being shipped from, the delivery time and their after sales service.

    Really nice home-built electric bike

Very nice DIY fabrication. Am I the only one that feels he's chosen the wrong type of motor for an on-road build though?...

Super sleek, no BS bargain . Anyone , anyone ?!

What a poorly thought out build. 50mph is waaaayyyy too fast for a hardtail and running ~5700W without torque arms is just suicide. The external wiring and huge 24FET controller placement is at best, shabby. I'd like to know more about the battery, which in all probability, is likely being...

I have lots of cells, anyone able to build a battery?

A word of warning: It might not be important to you, but that is an unregistered business seller, trading under illegal terms. You will have no right of return for "change of mind". You also won't be protected as detailed by Consumer Contracts Regulations.

Wanted: "Dead" Bosch Performance Line charger....??

I'm not sure what you mean by "optimiser". The Grin Satiatior is just a battery charger, albeit an absolutely fantastic one. However, it won't prolong the life of your battery any more than using the standard Bosch charger. Best practice for your battery, if not too inconvenient, is to store it...

Wanted: "Dead" Bosch Performance Line charger....??

The Grin Satiator is a class leading product from a class leading company, but I'm not sure it'll give you any further capabilities when using it to charge a Bosch battery. What are your expectations?

Wanted: "Dead" Bosch Performance Line charger....??

Hi. Sorry, I can't help with your requirement of a dead charger, but I am curious about what a 'battery optimiser' is in this context?

There certainly are and this is the most informative: https://endless-sphere.com/forums/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=75171

    Hub Dynamo

Regenerative braking is commonplace on bikes using a direct drive motor. Energy recapture is usually minimal though and is a secondary benefit to saving on physical brake wear. The internal freewheel featured in geared motors prevents using them for regenerative braking.

    Wired bike lights

Hmm, you surprise me. I wasn't expecting that. The only thing I dislike more than lighting powered from a separate battery is a dynamo on an electric bike. It's an unnecessarily complex system with unnecessary conversion losses. IMO, not what sustainable transport is about - simplicity and...

    Wired bike lights

Definitely not a silly idea. Wired lights on an electric bike should be the 'gold standard'. I've never understood why folk are happy to mess around with charging separate lighting packs. Imagine having to faff around with auxiliary lighting packs every time you wanted to drive your car at...

    bosch takes over cobi

I don't get the reasoning. So instead of stealing an OEM LCD, the thief gets to nab a £225 mobile phone connection kit?

Using Lipo batteries for an Ebike?

I second that. Sort of. 'Easier' is probably the wrong word. Maybe 'convenient' is what I mean. I always planned to build a large 3kWh pack from 18650 cells for my next build (enduro bike), but I'm currently spoilt with 20 minute charging using RC LiPo and a 3kW charger that I'm not sure I...

    NEVER BE STRANDED AGAIN

Nice thought, but this isn't suitable for outputting more than 50W, which isn't enough power for even the weediest of chargers. Additionally, it doesn't contain anywhere near enough energy to refill even a quarter of a small ebike battery. 20.1Ah * 3.7V = 74.37Wh

A random thread for things too unimportant for their own thread...

Oh, that did make me chuckle. Does anyone know why the Chinese create bastardised brands such as this? I mean, its not that anyone would actually mistake these for genuine Panasonic cells and if they really wanted to create a proper knock-off, I'd imagine they'd clone something much more...
