I have an old brass foot pump which no longer works as the washer is knackered. The pump has a barrel with a bore of 2.75 inch; any suggestions as to where I might be able to get a new washer ~ I assume there must be some vintage site which does them.

I must agree I think they are trying to be helpful, at least they are answering your email :)

If you have a vehicle that was off the road and untaxed at the time SORN was introduced there was no need to register as SORN.

Joking aside, would an easy route to a legal high power ebike to take an autocycle and just change the motor over, keeping the old registration. ?
