    52v 28ah triangle battery/Conversion with hard case

I do like your casing and that you’re using a Carrera frame. Well done!

    eBike for the wife...

The roads are so bad round our way that I converted a Giant Liv Tempt 3 hard tail bike for my wife. The 27.5” x 2.2” tyres and front suspension are great for potholes. Not as low a step thru. Hydraulic disc brakes and 2x9 gears. The bike is no longer made by Giant but some are appearing...

    Here's another one.......

These two from MBN aren’t the sharpest pricks. Giving ebikes to kids 7 to 8 year old? Utter nonsense.

    Cells out of balance

Waterproof? And single charge/discarge? The claim that it’s waterproof must surely have made you suspicious? The AnnPower are as good as any and are only charge, discarge and battery connection (3 wire, yours appears 2 wire). This type is far more reliable as I’m sure Nealh would agree.

    Shimano M315 hydraulic brakes

The fork won’t take 203mm rotor and they don’t recommend doing so unless you have a 12mm ? axle bolt. Now that it’s bedded in I’m really quite happy with 180. They don’t tip me over the handlebars but it does work quite well!

    Tongsheng TSDZ2 dies

Probably your battery expert has looked at the BMS? There is one other very similar error I had which also caused the whole lot to shut down was an overload on the 6v bike light extension. Your motor might have the additional cable that plugs into the speed sensor? The 6v supply will not...

    Tongsheng TSDZ2 dies

I had a BMS that failed in the same way but I caught it before I completed the battery. I was discharging the battery into a “150 watt constant current electronic load 10 amp” and it was relatively easy to catch it. Aliexpress sell them for £20 and they’re pretty useful. You can’t attach a DVM...

    Tongsheng TSDZ2 dies

You should have the display and the little remote controller? The power button on the display might be failing so try switching it on by the remote? If you have a hand throttle, unplug it. Has this motor ever worked correctly?

    Shimano M315 hydraulic brakes

The discs are now 180mm, Deore-Zee, and Including the adaptor, total cost £16 (ChainReactionCycles). Too early to say if it is an improvement, the discs haven’t bedded in yet, but it is certainly no worse. Many thanks, especially to Ford, to all who responded.

    Shimano M315 hydraulic brakes

This is good advice, thanks. The forks will take up to 180mm discs and a simple adaptor is required to fit the caliper. I’ll do the fronts only. Thanks for your help.

    Shimano M315 hydraulic brakes

They are as Giant supplied them. The Tektro Auriga pads on the Boardman however are not Shimano. I am experienced enough to know not to mix pads and discs so I will follow your advice and thanks.

    Shimano M315 hydraulic brakes

I’ve just converted a brand new Giant LIV hardtail bike with these brakes fitted. I’m 14-15 stone in weight. They appear to be correctly adjusted etc. However, coming downhill over extended distances >0.5miles and quite steep (required maximum assistance and lowest gear to climb) the brakes are...

Looking for advice regarding motor and controller

I seriously looked at converting one of these. I preferred a mid drive but getting a 48v battery in the frame defeated me. The easy position in a rack above the rear wheel shifts the balance too much for my liking. I settled for a hard tail Boardman. Please let us know how you get on.

    Battery for 'Dutch' style bike

Vinyl wrap of a carrier rack battery pack will give you almost any colour you want and there’s a place along Scotstoun Road who might do it for you. Or paint it - preparation of the aluminium surface needs care. It’s not difficult, my car’s got an aluminium body.

Battery advice wanted A123 pouch cells or 18650 cells

OK, did one of the 20ah A123 batteries only last 3 years and the pack made with Samsung 22p cells lasted only 18 months of 16 miles daily commute and cost £500? In your position I would be very disappointed. Something is wrong here, the dodgiest Chinese cells would almost be better.

    Suitable Bike Carriers

Saris Bones 3? Max weight 50kilos. Tail gate mounted. So far with a Motus and a converted Giant have travelled over 1,000 miles with no trouble and over some pretty rubbish roads. The batteries are carried inside, of course. Although a Saris Bones 2 would have been slightly cheaper, the 3...

    Problem with new Tongsheng TSDZ2

I’ve just got a new motor which behaved similarly; different error code but same ridiculous mph - 67mph. A bit shamefaced I had to admit, to probably the same woman at pswpower, that I’d connected the 3 pin jst throttle connector into the display completely the wrong way round. You can do it...

    Tongsheng TSDZ2. Your experiences.

Battery is of my own manufacture and is a 10S5P made from Samsung 25R cells which has an actual capacity of 12,000 mahr. On average suburban and country routes (Oxford has no real 1st gear hills but lots of annoying hillocks) the 350 watt motor will comfortably do over 180 miles with either eco...
