eMTB owners photo and ride thread.

It took some guts to get back on the bike after a crash like that and then do those jumps.

    Brexit, for once some facts.

    +1 on this.

New ebike hire business in Peak District

Good luck to your son, I hope it goes well for him. Not easy to start a new business, fair play to him for having the guts to try it.

Orbea Road or All-Road - Which One?

Great report n2yge, there is a good chance I will buy an e-road bike next year having bought an e-mountain bike this year which I am extremely impressed with. The D30 is certainly one I am thinking of buying, I really like the stealthy look it has.

Lacing a hub motor to rim

Park have lots of good videos on bike maintenance on youtube. I would imagine they have got some on wheel building which might be helpful to you.

Lacing a hub motor to rim

I'm exactly the same, I've always thought (and I think been told too) that you need to build a lot of wheels before you get any good at it. That's what has really put me off even trying.

Commuting on roads on FS and HT

Possibly, not sure to tell you the truth. On normal roads I now have enough fitness that I am riding either at 16 mph or faster depending on wind direction and gradient. I imagine the seat post does waste a bit of energy but I would think its very small. I never really noticed a great deal of...

Commuting on roads on FS and HT

Have you tried adjusting it? I have been using one for a while now and really like it, it didn't require adjustment. I have however spoken to a couple of people who did have to adjust theirs from new, due to excessive bobbing up and down. Once adjusted they were both very happy with it.

    Bosch Power Stations

I also suspect after reading that thread about someone having a lock picked and two ebikes stolen recently, that bad eggs would soon learn to pick the locks on these cabinets and walk off with several hundred pounds worth of batteries. CCTV does not seem to deter these people unfortunately.

does the Bosch system have walk assist?

Did you try walk assist in a lower gear, to slow the bike down? In the manual is says the following :- "The speed of this function depends upon the selected gear and can reach a maximum of 3.7 mph. The lower the selected gear the lower the speed of the walk assist function."

What does a bit of extra weight on an ebike actually do?

I've been playing around with that excellent calculator anotherkiwi provided in this thread and put in some of the numbers Gubbins gave here are the results. This first set is Gubbins who weighs 81 kg travelling on the flat at 25 km/h on a 22 kg bike and then a 31 kg bike. 22 kg bike power...

    My first ebike......

Great first post Colin, sounds like you are already hooked on your first ebike. I am the same with mine, only been riding if for a few months and still absolutely love it. I really think if more people would just get out and have a test ride on one then they too would be converted. A mate of...

Commuting on roads on FS and HT

Me too, and I am glad I did. I had a problem with mine which meant it had to go back to the shop twice before they sorted it. The second time they even came to my house and picked it up (about 20 miles round trip), and then dropped it back home to me when they had sorted the problem.

What does a bit of extra weight on an ebike actually do?

Thanks for putting so much work into this reply. I quite like posts like this, it forces me to get the old brain working a bit. Now I am not that good at physics (forgotten most of it), so I thought I would check through some of your calculations to see how I get on. Unfortunately I hit a...

    Cube Reaction Hybrid SL 500

Just been reading through this thread again, because someone had a similar problem to mine when the speed sensor started working intermittedly. Got to say GLJoe everything you put in this post was spot on. I've now done nearly 700 miles on my bike, and I can get up all the hills I did 20...

    Bosch motor/display cutting out.

Although not exactly the same I had a similar problem with my Cube emtb with a Bosch CX motor, and someone else on this forum had the same problem too. Rather than write it all out again, here is the thread. http://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/cube-reaction-hybrid-sl-500.31183/page-2 I...

    Two stolen KTM Machinas

Really sorry to hear this, you took reasonable precautions so I think you were extremely unlucky. Regarding picking locks, I remember many years ago a mate of mine began an apprenticeship as a lock smith. He told me that his boss who had been in the trade for donkeys years could open any lock...

Any bike for a 18 mile commute each way

Lots of people buy the kits and do the conversions themselves. I've not done this myself though, but it does not seem all that difficult to do. Your best bet if you are interested in this option is to ask questions in the Electric Bike Conversion Kit section of this forum. There are some...

Any bike for a 18 mile commute each way

Have you thought about the following for the commuting option. Either convert an existing bike (if you have one) or buy a second hand bike. Then buy one of the conversion kits and that's the commuting sorted. That should leave your with still a large chunk of your £3k budget for the fun bike...
