    Talking of Twist Batteries . . . .

just noticed ebikes.ca is no longer selling there stuff outside their state in Canada :( . Big loss to the electric bike world. I hope they change their mind someday.

    Talking of Twist Batteries . . . .

Be careful who you buy nimh batteries off. sometimes they have bad cells which when left in the pack will eventually damage the pack and create all kinds of problems. Always worth buying off someone with a warranty in the country your in, like powacycle. Ebikes.ca also very good (i don't work...

2006 Giant Twist Comfort GTS Range Question

sounds good to me:D The other efficiency tip is to use the gears as much as possilbe as the motor is more efficient when it spins faster. By the sounds of it your going to get very fit very fast with a commute like that.

2006 Giant Twist Comfort GTS Range Question

Range veries so much with terrain/ weight and riding style that its impossible to guestimate for sure. If you want to find out for sure then a battery meter such as the 'watts up' or 'drainbrain' (google them for more info) will let you know exactly whats going on. my guess is there's...

    KMX vs Powabyke

The powabyke was pretty much stock parts, with quite a few small modifications for the day. I drilled some holes in the motor to improve the cooling, added an extra lead brick on the rear rack to give 48 volts, and made a small modifcation to the controller to let the motor see a few extra...

Using a folding pedelec for commuting

You might want to speak to tony castles. He's done quite a few electric modifications of bromptons and various other folders. at electro-drive .:07974 723996:.. If you want to go the diy/kit route I can think of a combination that will weigh in at 15kg but the build cost would be something...

    old bikes, new batteries ?

Mitty, Nothing to stop you either modifying an exisiting second hand electric bike for more torque or building yourself new bike using higher power/torque motors like the puma (especially) or crystalyte motors. In answer to your question about batteries, there is no technical obstacles to...

    Physics question

Gentlemen, Thanks for the replys, your absolutley correct. The reading was way too high, so I went back and checked and couldn't get a resistance reading at all. Perhaps a normal digital multimeter isn't a very good way to measure resistance levels below 1 ohm anyway. For safe measure I...

    Physics question

I've got one of my powabyke motors in bits and was tipped to measure resistance of the brass brush holders, through which all current must pass to reach the brushes They both came in at a whopping 0.7 ohms. Was wondering what the formula was for working out how much energy is lost as heat in...

    WANTED: Bike trailer

6ft x 4ft. 150 KG carry capacity. something like flecc's(trailers) just a little bit bigger. Would pay up to £300 for the right trailer. Just spent too many hours searching on whole of internet , with no success. It seems no-one's making anything similar. The only people in the UK i...

    Battery Packs

Dougie, If your happy doing the physical modifications to allow the packs to fit and to attach to your bike then yes. The electrical side is pretty easy, though there are other paramters than voltage that are important. For a technical intro to batteries see here Information about Battery...

    extraenergy delay

I wasn't much impressed with what they've done so far. Seems quite Euro focussed, and short on technical detail. I don't see why they didn't review the ezee bikes. I suppose I'm not in their target audience as I don't have £2000 for an electric bike. I learn more from forums like this one...

    WANTED: Controller for Aprilia Enjoy

I don't know that much about pedelec controllers and how they might work with different bikes. controllers that work on from a simple throttle and pretty straightforward and there's a quite a lot avaiable on the net that will work with virutually all motors and bikes. would you be happy with...

    can the torq go faster

Actually you might not need a new controller, it depends on what voltage the components in it are rated at. you'd definatley need a new battery though.
