    Torque wrench for bikes

I was the same until recently in that the crank bolts on my TSDZ2 required 40nm to be tight enough to stop them loosening and my guessing as to 'tight enough' was in fact quite a bit lower than that required. And I'm using a front hub motor on carbon forks and I needed to ensure 30nm tightness...

    Mahle x35 queries

and I think that is exactly what you are feeling around the speed cutoff point. I would have thought that the motor's controller should ramp down assistance smoothly (and vice versa on re-applying assistance). Maybe there are software upgrades to be had? You say you feel it in 'highest...

    Mahle x35 queries

The Mahle X35 does not have torque sensing AFAIK - that is a feature that came with the later X20 motor.

    AKM 100sx - stripdown-how?

Thanks @Nealh - TBK's Ali Express outlet offers better shiping rates than going via their website and as @sanegle says, other Chinese sellers offer the tool too (see pic below). I'll enjoy having a go at making my own tool but if it doesn't work at least I know where to get one for less than £20.

Brilliant guys, thanks very much indeed.

    AKM 100sx - stripdown-how?

I have a previous Swytch motor (actually an AKM 100sx) and whilst it is running perfectly fine, I was out of idle curiosity wondering how it comes apart, should the need arise. Below are some pics taken from a sale listing for an AKM 100sx but physically it is identical in all respects to my...

    Spoke rub

I would recommend viewing something like the YT vid I linked to to understand the relationship between getting the spokes correctly tensioned and keeping the wheel true in all three dimensions i.e. side to side play (aka lateral trueness), that the wheel remains round (radial trueness) and that...

    Spoke rub

No it doesn't and in any case only a tiny amount of oil is used and then surplus is wiped away after building is complete and then the wheel rim tape provides separation from the nipples.

    Spoke rub

@Wayners, there are many informative videos on YT regarding building or just truing up wheels. I've just been refreshing myself in this respect and I found a guy called ryanbuilds wheels easy to listen to. The 4th part of his 'lesson' covers truing and straightening a wheel and whilst lesson 4...

    Swytch juddering

PS - Crossed posting with NealH - sorry @Alex76 - so how handy are you with tools? You're between a rock and a hard place in that without doing some investigation of your own, you can't be sure that just following Swytch's advice will solve the problem in that it might be that the motor is...

    Swytch juddering

I'm no expert but folks who in general that have battery problems don't experience symptoms like yours but others wiser than me will be along shortly. Oops, crossed in the post with Saneagle!

    Spoke key

Having bought the above stand back in Nov'24, I finally put it to proper use last week to re-lace a silver front hub motor from a silver rim and spoked wheel to a black rim/spokes (to better match the rear wheel on my road bike  ). Prior to using this stand I've built maybe half a dozen...

    RIGHT side pas for KTController?

Worry not - that's what the forum is here for (to help out). Your username sugests you might have a Roberts Tandem - lovely machines that they are. Are you converting it to electric BTW (and what with)?

    RIGHT side pas for KTController?

I successfully fitted a 12 magnet PAS Kingmeter sensor to my Campag Power Torque BB (similar size to Hollowtech 2) and it works perfectly with my KT controller (C1 = 7) I can't remember where I got the sensor from but his ebay link HERE shows a similar one. The magnetic disc is sized to fit on...

    Torque Arms.

Why do you think you need torque arms? Your two bikes without - were they conversions or proprietary? Have you had dropout problems?

    carbon forks and hub motors?

Nice to hear from you @JakeCy and apologies for posing as a customer. Firstly I was really interested to visit your shop and get a greater knowledge of what you do seeing that my cycling buddies spoke so highly of your system and others in my cycling group often ask me about 'going electric' as...

    Swytch kit

@Alex76 - what assist level are you riding in? As @Nealh says, the proble could be down to an aging battery suffering 'voltage sag' and this phenomenon will be more noticeable the higher the level of assist used. Knowing this and if say you're riding as PAS-3 or higher and experience the...

    Views on 2 brompton choices

Yes to that and although I'm not looking at a Brompton for myself, it's always interesting to see what others do. When I run my carbon framed road bike (similar weight to a steel Brompton I think, (14-15Kg?) on a 10s1p (Molicell M50LT a 5000mAh 21700) on PAS=1 (KT controller) I get around 30...

    Swytch Ebike Conversion Kit

@Doninho11 - depending how deep your pockets are, have a look at ARCC bikes for converting the Birdy (link) with conversion prices starting at ONLY £2,199 (you send them your bike and they do all the work and send it back to you) which many on here, including me who do their own conversions...

Scavenging escooter found apparently dead to make batteries?

I know from your many posting that you are really catious about batteries and possible fires thus it truly beats me why you would ever consider taking batteries of unknown provenance to build a battery pack from them. You'll have no idea as to the quality of the batteries and how they have been...
