Prices of the electricity we use to charge

My brother has just received our £27.30 from ALCS for us to share for library loans of our father's books (H.E.Todd). Way back when while he was actively writing and storytelling (mainly schools and libraries) his library loan income was probably close to his book sales and storytelling income...

Hellp Bosch CX Gen 2 error 424

As others have said, check the connections from the intuiva display to the mount. Especially with slightly older versions (including mine) that is quite prone to bad connections; a design issue in the mount. I believe they fixed that in later versions of the mount. I seem to remember that the...

    Recommendations for Electric Bike Insurance

To quibble even more ... I make 250 maximum input power on a 36v battery needs a controller no more than 250/42 = 5.95...A (or ? 250/41.6) ; as the maximum will be with a fully charged battery. Hopefully they do mean any legal EAPC, though it would be good to get them to confirm it in advance.

    Recommendations for Electric Bike Insurance

I think we mostly know and agree with that. BUT the question isn't whether a bike is legal as an EAPC, but whether it will be covered by the insurances mentioned above. Not a question of whether it legally needs the insurance, in fact technically nothing to do with the law at all. Exactly as...

Wanted Looking for replacement Bosch rack battery

100's (1000's?) of people commute from Winchester to London each day but I don't know any well enough to ask. I avoid going to London whenever possible. We might be in Barnes next Friday; and there's a chance I'll be seeing a friend who could get it to Hatton Gardens area.

Dillenger kit, possible to upgrade controller?

You'll almost certainly need to update the display when you update the controller. whoops. crossed with Benjahmin's post.

Wanted Looking for replacement Bosch rack battery

Yes, that's right. I don't think I can post it; complicated for individuals because of health and safety, firms make special arrangements. You can pick up in Winchester more or less any time. PM me if you are still interested. I'll put it on the bike tomorrow to double check it is working; it's...

Wanted Looking for replacement Bosch rack battery

If it is just a matter of keeping the bike on the road I have an old (2016 approx) 300wh rack battery, in Winchester. I replaced it a bit ago with a 500wh from Merlin while the price wasn't too bad (as mentioned above), and I was afraid replacement might get very sparse and even more expensive...

    Marathon E-Plus

Does anyone have experience with the Marathon E-Plus? It is getting near to time to replace the Marathon Plus on the back of our tandem after several thousand miles (8k?) of excellent service; most of it (5k) with the front wheel electrified.

    Recommendations for Electric Bike Insurance

I used 80's style toeclips some time ago (in the 80's?) but never got on with them. I've been using half toeclips since, which for me work really well. Keep the foot more or less in place, very easy to get out of, and easy to lift the pedal ready for start at traffic lights etc...

Some advice for a ebike newb

That depends on how easy the delimiting is. If it can easily be delimited by a 'off-road' switch then it is not a legal EPAC. Unfortunately there doesn't seem to be a precise definition of 'switch'. My interpretation is that if the delimiting can be performed while mounted then it is a switch...

    ROLLER BRAKE

If you show a picture of the bike it will be easier to suggest sensible options. Do you actually like the roller brake if it worked right? I hate them, but I know some people thing they are great. They don't tend to work that well; it may be that the added speed from the electric is effectively...

Looking for a decent ebike to buy, on a bit of a 'budget'

Is there any good reason why ebike 'throttles' are different? (I'll stick to the term throttle.) Your arguments above are more about the limitations of the implementation of todays 'throttles' and controllers, rather than the unsuitability of ebike throttles. You mention devices such as Cycle...

New old boy with a question regarding Quick Release wheel

To come to the 14mph vs 10 mph argument Saneagle made the assumption that you had the motor at the full 250 power, and were still pedalling as hard as you did before you had electric. As long as you have a sensible controller and don't use high assistance level when on the level the first part...

New old boy with a question regarding Quick Release wheel

Disc brakes are desirable but by no means necessary. Even with assistance it is quite likely you will be riding slower with the converted bike than you did prior to your knee conversion. A decent pair of V-brakes should be fine. Also check Woosh as an alternative to Yose for the kit. Probably...

    Whisper 905se speed limit

The 95% offroad part would also be illegal if you derestricted, unless it was on private land with no public access. (eg no bridleways, canal paths, bike paths)

    replacement battery for eskuta

As you have just joined, a quick reminder in case: don't get confused between (a) the capacity of a battery (watt hours = amp hours * volts, Wh = Ah*V), which mainly effects the range (b) the current delivery capability of a battery (amps, A), both burst and continuous, which is what saneagle...

    More Seizures

Yes, with that registration and certificate it is classed as an EAPC, which basically allows it to be used almost like a push bike. The only difference I know of between EAPC and push bike rules is that an EAPC can't legally be ridden by under 14s. (I guess that doesn't apply to you.)
