    E-Trike

I think this could be the spec: https://www.alpineelectricbikes.co.uk/products/alpine-electric-bikes-electric-explorer-trike-e-tricycle

    E-Trike

If it says 250W it should be ok, the motor just looks big. I would not like to splash out a lot of money on a bike without getting the chance to ride it, but it seems like you don't have much choice.

    E-Trike

Make sure you do a test ride before you buy to make sure it suits and feels stable enough. The front motor looks a little more than 250W? Do you know the spec?

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

My bad, your LCD is so fancy it looks like a phone app and assumed you'd be using mph :)

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

I wouldn't worry about it. Unless you make an arse of yourself by riding irresponsibly, or go zipping around at ridiculous speeds, there are too few police with too little time on their hands to go stopping e-bikes like ours and looking at them in any depth. In the highly unlikely event you do...

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

Whatever it might say on an LCD screen is irrelevant. It's not an officially calibrated device or system. It would have to be put on a calibrated rolling road. For instance, the LCD is likely to have production variability, but even if it is recording properly, you might have the LCD indicating...

    E-Bikes: The phenomenon, The Problem.

It would be interesting to know what the plods on the ground on these "crackdowns" have been told what to look for and how to respond to it.

Bike chased late Friday night by loons

You probably have to divide those Lm figures by a hundred to get genuine numbers :D Generally, I think they are BS. They put clusters of high power LEDs together, without adequate power dissipation. Output falls with increasing temperature (and so does longevity). The current of the overall...

    Ebike battery fire

Here is a screen shot of the spec from a typical Daly BMS So the cut off is set to 4.25 +/- 0.05 V. So it could be as low as 4.2V or as much as 4.3V. It would be interesting to see how this works. So at the bottom end, 4.2V - would end up cutting out charging as soon as one cell reached 4.2V...

    Ebike battery fire

I hope so, but it's one thing I haven't put it to the test :). The cut out voltage seems to be set to between 4.25 and 4.3V per cell. It only takes 4.35 V/cell to start plating metallic lithium, which could lead to a fire. It's such a fine margin, and you have to hope the control electronics are...

    Ebike battery fire

Something does need to be done about chargers being sold on online. I think they are one of the biggest causes of fires. Then also, there should be a system of unique connectors on the output of the charger for a given voltage. It's too easy to connect say a 48V charger to a 36 V battery at the...

A few video highlights from the last day of my recent tour.

I dunno, maybe they should install something on the dashboard of the car to indicate speed? :D

The EBIKE Law that doesn't make ANY SENSE (and it DISCRIMINATES)

The guy doesn't understand the law. It's 250W maximum continuous output. He has taken a single line from a website that is misquoting the law. Not surprising this happens when even official gov websites often misquote the law.

    Wheel diameter vs. Speed restriction

You need to have an independent means of measuring speed, like a simple bike odometer, or a GPS app. The other thing to check with the C500 LCD is the max current setting. The default seems to be set to 14 amps (from the kits I've had), which is less than the spec of the 15A controller. You can...

    Wheel diameter vs. Speed restriction

A KT LCD will not work with the Yose Power kit as it uses a Lishui controller, which uses a different coms system.
