    Reliable Voltage Meter ?

They look like nice options. Here is what I mean about the common 3 wire meters for 100V, the supply can only go up to 30 or 40V: I have used these quite often as they come with a handle bar mount:

    Reliable Voltage Meter ?

This is true, but you need to be a little careful. Lots of these LED displays are designed for typically 12V use and max out at around 30V DC for power input, just for driving the device (3 wire devices, 1 wire ground, 1 wire power input and 1 wire signal to be measured). For a typical 36V pack...

    Reliable Voltage Meter ?

I've been using these recently. You can get an external shunt version if required. And of course, if used on the bike you will need to waterproof. It will go up to 100V, whereas most others will only go up to 60V.

    Reliable Voltage Meter ?

Sure you can, just don't want people to be misled in thinking it's waterproof out of the box. Very few of these things are.

    Reliable Voltage Meter ?

No, it is not waterproof. Mine burned out when it got damp.

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

Maybe you're right, after all, you are our resident expert on conspiracy theories LOL So the industry "experts" on batteries can't be wrong, but all those guys in white coats who saved us from Covid and all sorts of other illnesses through developing vaccines are a bunch of con men trying to...

36V Powabyke. Help required please with motor issue.

Sounds good. From the voltage after 6 miles, that would be approx 60% full charge remaining. You don't want to go much below 20% (around 35V) but you could probably get another 6 and do 12miles in total on a charge - obviously that will depend on your effort put in, the wind, how hilly, outdoor...

36V Powabyke. Help required please with motor issue.

You might ask, "why do this to a 24 year old e-bike?" The bike belonged to my dad originally, so it had some sentimental value to keep it running. Then it kind of became my main bike when I had to have some leg operations which meant I couldn't get my leg over a cross bar on my normal bike. It...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

Sad, but probably true. I am doing at least 2 cycles of charging a day and so for me it is important to try and prolong battery life. This year I have done about 400 cycles on my main pack and it still performs like new and I only ever charge it to 41V. Although what I do is not practical for...

Ok, I think we are getting somewhere... :) I was being very reductionist at the end of my last post to try and get a proper idea of where you stand so we can cut the waffle. Holiday ends today and I can't be on the forum all day every day :) On 1), I've managed to haggle you down to about...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

See what I mean Les? Opens a can of worms as soon as you mention charging and there are those that feel very passionately about it :) 4.2V/cell is a relatively arbitrary figure arrived at by battery manufacturers to indicate the end of cell charge point for Li ion cells. It is a compromise...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

That's quite a variation. It could be explained by one battery pack having a reverse protection diode, so the charger for that has to supply more than 42V to compensate for the voltage drop of the diode. Can you detect a voltage on the input pins of the charge port of the battery when the...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

There is no "one of the charge cycles". Batteries slowly wear out, depending on many factors, but mainly how much you use it. The 500 charge cycles often quoted in battery specs is just an estimate of how many full charges anyone would do during the life of the battery. It doesn't matter how...

Suggestions for Cycle Route Planner ?

You beat me to it :) There is height info on there too and you can scroll thru the route giving height at each point.

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

It's not a silly question, there is a lot of discussion available on the forum etc about how to charge/store batteries and it often generates more heat than light :) As your batteries are old, I wouldn't worry about it too much, just charge them as needed. But if you are going to leave the bike...

36V Powabyke. Help required please with motor issue.

Hmmm, I'm not so sure. My Powabyke motor was close to 6 kg. It was a beast of a motor. The brushless motor I replaced it with was around half that. It had no problems getting the bike up steep hills, even though it was low torque. I did improve it by eventually running that one at 48V, which...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

To me it seems that you can't imagine how people not in your situation live. There are rich people, there are desperately poor people and there is a big spectrum in between, although the numbers at the poorer end far outweigh the numbers at the richer end. Plus, in the current climate, the...

Following on from my introduction to this forum I have questions

Depends how thick your skin is. But on a forum dedicated to inclusivity it is not helpful to have people looking down at others who have to live according to their circumstances. That bike is dual suspension. Like I said, avoid! I feel your pain :) But there are cheaper but decent bikes out...

36V Powabyke. Help required please with motor issue.

I mostly agree with you there, the existing motor is not bad, but a modern brushless motor is a lot lighter, more efficient and less noisy. But as you say, the starting point is the battery, especially if funds are limited.

36V Powabyke. Help required please with motor issue.

I can understand, the last thing you want to do is spend a lot of money on something you have yet to get to grips with and have yet to find out what suits your particular needs. I'm sure there are loads of people on here who can suggest good low cost or second hand e-bike models to meet your...
