Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

You quoted the 15000 figure on this thread.... BTW I think you need the glasses not me. Where is this supposed impoliteness? I assure you you will know it if I intend to be rude. Or did you think I was referring to you with my blowing smoke up our arses comment? If so I suggest you start to...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

Looking back up the thread I think you did…. You seemed to take it from Kalkhoff UK posting on the other thread as an attempt to fudge the issue though. But no one gives a monkey’s how many bikes they’ve sold. What we all want to know is how many Impulse 11s they’ve sold and how many motor...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

I can’t believe they’ve sold 15000 Impulse 11 bikes. That must be the total Kalkhoffs sold since they became the dealer for the brand. The statistics he trotted out sounded a little like Dave’s for money spent on flood defences.

Anyone Fancying a PUNT on the new Impulse Evo bike in 2016

Not sure you can fairly compare the 350w version with a a 250w one.

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

But he hasn’t said how many Impulse 11 units have failed in the fairly short time that they’ve been used. His figure takes in the Panasonic and Impulse 1 which there are few reports of problems with.

Is it a Pedelec or an e-bike?

That saying has been attributed to a few people including Oscar Wilde. If it really was him who said it first it didn’t do him much good….

Anyone Fancying a PUNT on the new Impulse Evo bike in 2016

I suppose you could say that if you don’t want the extra power which seems to be overloading the bottom end of the motor you don’t have to use it; and then I would imagine you would be problem free. But I don’t think they or the other manufactures are far out in making the motors more powerful...

Kalkhoff Impulse 2.0 - any good reviews?

Dear Git eh? They could have used his handle which is git-r. Are they having a laugh? I think we should be told…. I’ve never seen a forum on their website. Some sites like the crap broadband I was with a couple of years ago have a customer forum where you can see the problems as they arise and...

Clacking noise - Kalkhoff Impulse 2 motor

I think the problem is the Impulse 11 motor, not the impulse which in its original form is a very good and reliable motor. I have one and it’s quite powerful enough for me even though I live in a very hilly area and am only a month or so away from starting my seventh decade. I’ve tried the 11...

    Battery Refurb?

You might be better off looking at German eBay and buying a generic one from there. Depending on what you’ve got they can be quite cheap. A lot cheaper than 50 Cycles anyway. Tilson bought one for his Kalkhoff Panasonic and was happy with it.

    New to ebikes

If the batteries have been unused for three years they will almost certainly be dead. Not familiar with these but if they are sophisticated modern designs which go to sleep when unused they might not be. They’re only on the more expensive bikes though. New batteries are available, and if the...

Ebike to keep up with fast group

I assume he’s checked it out and is welcome. If he’s a long time cyclist and is just too old to keep up anymore I can imagine he would not be shunned. After all a previous winner of the Tour of Britain in the fifties was interviewed when the Tour de France started here a couple of years ago, and...

    More than a lucky escape.

He was quivering like an alcoholic after a two week bender in the last shots. Poor sod couldn’t even stand. He'd just looked death in the kneecaps and he knew it. I bet he went home and lay down in darkened room.

    Aggatu

They are lovely bikes to ride too, as well as being very well finished and built like tanks. This motor version seems to be the problem. It has now been discontinued of course and the new one which looks quite similar but is obviously redesigned to take the power has been renamed. So maybe the...

I think if I was on my second or third motor and knowing that others have had problems with this version I would have cut my losses and sold it before that one went tits up too. Clearly the Impulse 11 motor has been too stressed by design and you ought to have a case in law under the successor...

My late Impulse 1 has never given any trouble but there are reports of the Impulse 11 having internal failures. As far as I know the 11 is identical mechanically to the 1 but with a lot more power. I have test ridden one and it does have more power than mine. I suspect it had too much for the...

    Does bicycle weight really matter?

I’m toying with the idea of doing this with my Cube road bike but was thinking of the Keyde system. This motor would be cheaper but a bit heavier at 2kl I think you said. But a battery that size and weight would be a no no for me. I would only want assistance on some of the steep hills and so a...

    Kalkhoff Owners Speeds?

That’s the legal pedelec definition which doesn’t need to be registered of course. The Sped is allowed to go up to 45 kph where it is allowed but that’s not in the UK. As far as anyone knows only two people have jumped through all the time consuming hoops to register something at all like that...

    Kalkhoff Owners Speeds?

You can buy dongles for Kakhoffs too. If you want to go down that route. It’s just the same under the law as an S pedelec though.
