The Anything Thread that is Never off subject.

Sorry to learn that, hopefully youwont get too many flashbacks. Was that the Tesla? Sounds like the other guy is going to get taught more than one harsh lesson, which may be some satisfaction. Gave up workounts at 75, not had any weight problem in the 13 years since, my body takes care of...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

I couldn't agree more, it's one reason why I would never buy a Tesla 3 which even has some normal dashboard functions on its huge centre screen. My Leaf has a centre screen but I'd never operate it on the move. Fortunately it doesn't need me to. .

Indeed, there's no excuse if drivers use their heads. The acceleration of mine in normal Drive mode is grossly excessive, so I only use that mode in long open road journeys. At all other times I'm in Eco mode which reduces the power by 40%, leaving its performance much closer to other cars...

    Another Sur-ron accident.

Heroin is very different in that it mimics the body's natural L-dopamine. It's the excess mimicry and shutting down of the natural L-dopamine production that is harmful, otherwise it doesn't affect functionality. I knowingly employed a heroin addict as a truck driver over an 8 year period up...

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Obviously not the latter. Ministerial orders permitting ignoring laws in prescribed circumances are usually long preceded by well understood and discussed circumstances, OR to deal with exceptional circumstances. It is only that last one we should worry about. Take the three examples I...

"Police stat shows that 260 electric powered bicycles were seized by officers last year"

Incorrect, a ministerial permission is operationally law and has to be obeyed by the police when they are instructed accordingly. Such recent permissions are the year 2000 permission to cycle on pavements when in fear of traffic, the year 2013 permission to regularise the 250 watts in place of...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

You'd think they would try to get the facts right. They report some 540,000 electric on UK roads, when in fact the battery electric ones alone are over a million, without about half again Hybrids with lithium batteries. At least they've confirmed that the Luton airport car park fire was NOT...

The tale of a £100 second hand electric bike.

25 years ago in 1999 the Yamaha complete mid drive bike with an NiMh battery was easily the best pedelec on our market, pretty good consistency over a quarter century. .

For Sale TGA Crank Drive Ebike

It's a historic design from before most of the present regulations and when no-one bothered about the details. Wholly English design and made in Essex by TGA, a mobility scooter company, but discontinued around the time of the Millennium. Ideal for New Zealand, the only country in the World...

    wisper strange battery issue!

Good to learn of this David. I've known of Belgium having a lithium battery reycling plant for a few years but no way of getting them there. .

rear spokes on an e bike

You don't need a wheel specialist, just a bike shop worthy of the name. Clearly your local one is incompetent, so go to the next one until you find someone who is competent. Or do it yourself, that isn't impossible since I've seen many in here learn how and succeed from online advice. N.B...

The Anything Thread that is Never off subject.

Just be patient and it might happen. For much of my retirement from my early fifties I was struggling but failing by a few kilos to keep my weight down to 70 kilos. But now at 88 and during the last three years, I've been consistently the same 63 kilos (just under ten stones) that I was as a...

    Bafang Rear Hub Motor Questions

I was replying to your post which didn't quote what he posted. Now I've looked back at that I can see what you mean. That same 34% total efficiency loss I've experienced with 250 watt rated Bafang hub motors on two bikes I've owned. .

Maximum continuous rated wattage of motor of course, not battery delivered wattage, controller delivered wattage or actual peak power capability at the wheel after efficiency losses. .

I'd still like him to get into the presidency. If Biden gets in there will be no change, the world will continue in the present shambles where few countries seem to have one mind on what they want to do, least of all the USA and the UK. At least with Trump there would be change, the fiasco in...

Heartbroken family pay tribute to teen 'who loved going out with mates' after e-bike crash

Kids primarily learn by example and all instances of contempt for the law shown by adults influence them and their behaviour. So it has everything to do with your various examples, including here. .

Heartbroken family pay tribute to teen 'who loved going out with mates' after e-bike crash

I disagree. Posting about derestricting EAPCs shows a contempt for the law and gives the impression that this law is unimportant, seen very clearly in the casual way that so many join just to find out how to break this law. It is not unimportant, nor is it anything to do with the British...

L5 Tricycle electric motor powered is a licence required?

I assume you are excluding pedelec tricycles which need no licence. A motorised tricycle (no pedals) which otherwise fits the EAPC regulations requires a category Q driving licence: -------------------------------------------------------------------- Category Q You can drive 2-wheeled and...
