Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Electric car sales increased even while total car sales dipped by 3% in 2022 relative to 2021. China accounted for nearly 60% of all new electric car registrations globally. For the first time in 2022, China accounted for more than 50% of all the electric cars on the world's roads, a total of...

First car to ever complete the Pole to Pole drive is an EV.

Of course it isnt about charging at either pole, or even finding public chargers every 300km or so throughout 30,000km, though the necessary only 100 of them is feasible. Clearly either generators or current transfer batteries were used at times in the more remote areas. It's about showing...

First car to ever complete the Pole to Pole drive is an EV.

No more so than with similar IC car stunts, no fuel pumps either. But the poles are the end points. There was 30,000 km in between. .

Fully agree for buildings, but great for cars small cabins, even coping with South Pole conditions. LINK .

First car to ever complete the Pole to Pole drive is an EV.

Chris and Julie Ramsey, husband and wife adventurers, have completed the first ever pole-to-pole drive by a car of any fuel, travelling over 30,000km in a Nissan Ariya with e-4ORCE all-wheel control. They'd previously completed the 10,000 km Mongol rally in their Nissan Leaf. So much for all...

Curious about the difference between allowed wattage for 250W LPM ebikes and normal EU ebike legislation

Legality is for fussy people. I'm a bit like a pre-2016 pedelec that can keep its throttle through grandfather rights. The majority of all our laws were passed into force after I was born in the 1930s, so they don't apply to me. ;) .

They don't have to pay for it if chauffeur driven in cars either. I take no notice of these long winded scare videos by those who like the sound of their own voices, since we lost most of our travel freedoms long, long ago. Just look at the freedoms I once enjoyed: No speed limits on any...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Some truths, some nonsense. The flaw is that what is being developed is not necessarily what is legislated. Remember, politicians and lawyers also like to own and drive cars and far more control is possible now but hasn't been implemented by them. .

Curious about the difference between allowed wattage for 250W LPM ebikes and normal EU ebike legislation

I've never had one , there have almost certainly been more non-compliant pedelecs than compliant ones, a norm in the sphere of pedelecs. .

That is why the correct method for a self built machine is to have it tested by an approved testing station at a cost of £55, asking for it to be approved as a legal pedelec ( EAPC ) or as a 250W LPM if it has a fully operational throttle. They will issue you with an MAC (Ministers...

No etching needed: Clarification on the specification plate required on pedelecs Confirmed as below by James Brown, International Vehicle Standards, Department for Transport: "As part of the GB EAPC amending legislation, that will come into force on 6 April 2015, the requirement for the...

Not true. The Nissan Leafs from the outset have been extremely reliable and will last decades. Their batteries from the 2010 24 kW through the 30kW one of 2014, the 40kW one of 2018 to the largest 63 kW one today are all the same size and fully interchangeable, using replaceable cell modules...

Curious about the difference between allowed wattage for 250W LPM ebikes and normal EU ebike legislation

We, that is the DfT after a public consultation, abolished those weight limits since they prevented pedelecs being used for all the possible applications that could reduce car and van usage. That was the stated reason and it is government policy here and in much of the world. The flexibility...

Then obviously the owners failed to do their homework when they bought that model. That is not in any way a valid generic criticism of EVs, it's just an example of consumer careless stupidity. On every occasion of considering buying one in 2010, 2014 and finally buying in 2018, I checked every...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

As you'll know I've never defended Tesla and in these pages have been one of their harshest critics of their battery policies. Anyone buying a model A or model Y currently is a mug, not having a clue about the battery it will have. I would never buy any of their models. And supercars like...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Yes, I did watch the video, but I am not so easily fooled. When Hyundai sell the entire car with battery for far less, the battery emphatically does not cost 60,000 Canadian dollars, though they might be charged that. Rip offs are commonplace, and as you said, there was a mistake admitted...

We'll see. I still remember 1955 and the promise I listened to of nuclear electricity so cheap they wouldn't bother to bill anyone. Now we have Hinckley Point and EDF guaranteed doubled going prices for everything it produces. .

Nothing wrong intrinsically, but I question whether British SMRs are the right product, competing with and making alongside the market leader in their own back yard. Would you make a British designed pedelec hub motor in Suzhou and then try to compete with it, or just buy one of Suzhou's...

Prices of the electricity we use to charge

Possible, but to what point? An all Chinese one would probably be cheaper and perhaps better, given their extensive nuclear power experience. It's on occasions like this that I think of trains, jet engines, hovercraft, first ever nuclear power station, all British firsts and businesses...
