Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

Hi guys Sorry for butting in again with this tiresome subject but I can't help but feel certain similarities are currently occuring with e-scooters. We are sadly still off the road for many well documented reasons but we have seen so many who are flouting this (enforceable) law and on at least...

    Volt Pulse x

My wife has had a Volt Pulse for several years. Sadly in this backwater there is a law preventing its use. The bike was excellent when it was used and we did many miles without incident. I have a Volt Infinity which was more expensive but as an ex auto engineer I can say that both these bikes...

    Northern Ireland EAPC status.

During a visit to a solicitor recently on a totally unrelated matter I mentioned the ebike fiasco and he was aware of it and assured me that confiscation would be a minor issue compared to a personal injury claim in the event of an accident which had been backed by recorded PSNI / court action...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

I try to keep out of the politics of this nightmare even though I have written to so many (apparently) in power and been politely told that it is "out of their hands" - all of them?? In fairness the use of pedelecs is probably low and getting lower on the agenda should they ever stop bickering...

Many thanks Danidl You have written exactly what I was preparing and probably did it better. Word for word I fully agree. Thank you.

Good luck to you Damian, long may you be safe. We do envy you but with my luck in the past I would probably be innocently proceeding along the towpath and an off duty plod would be out for a jog, drift towards me and end up in the Lagan. ello, ello, ello......is that a battery I can see on your...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

Fair comment Flecc and I will always bow to your vast experience. May I add that when I said "we made a mistake upon moving to another part of the UK" I meant the mistake was to assume the laws here were the same as the rest of the UK where the use of my Powabyke was simple and legal.........if...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

The use of pedelecs as we know them is by and large illegal in N.I. As you have suggested there are probably ways around the ability to use them but none of these are of any interest to us personally. We bought bicycles which made cycling easier due to our age and my health issues. I have no...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

I can confirm that all of this is correct, however daft. I am still in contact with Inspector Leech (some of you guys will remember her from the letter she wrote?) It is obvious what she wants to say but is bound by law(?) not to say it and she is correct. I still have contact with some retired...

    Bar graph??

No problem there. I am allergic to social meeja. Never use it but I am probably too old for this world. Many thanks. :)

Always hoping we will bump into you in Newcastle some day. We will probably be on our Bromptons (no choice) and we always park the Golf at the far end of town opposite the Avoca Hotel. Keep well.

Sorry - Off topic for an instant. By the way Tommie, I did ask a question somewhere but never received a reply. What is the significance of the bar graph at each member's details? Reactions??? There is green, grey and red so what do they mean. I have blundered about the new format but I can...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

I have to put likes at these two previous comments - simply because I like them but haven't got the nerve to act accordingly. I know you guys are clever enough to understand and accept our reluctance to take a chance on not being nabbed. I wasn't born yesterday and have been through a lot in...

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

Hi LeighPing "Met" a few good guys on this forum. Hope you are all well and active. Not much to say here now because we are still grounded with veiled threats from several departments on the use of our illegal bikes. Keep safe Ted.

    Bar graph??

Can someone explain the significance of the bar graph on each member's profile? It is green, grey and red. I have also seen an icon on mine referring to "offensive language" which is confusing as in that post I never said anything offensive. Thanks Ted

Bring back the old format web

Yes thanks - I had been doing that previously and was getting intermittent results. A bit like everything in my advancing years these days, sometimes things work and sometimes it takes a bit of time........

Hello Pal, I might be off the scene because of the ********'s in power here but I still watch the activities on the forum from my sofa. Just found that my list of icons have been reinstated. How good is that for a Tuesday? I shall use one and you shall be first. :p

Police say electric bikes illegal in Northern Ireland

This site seems to have changed a bit since I was here. Still grounded Flecc, just don't have the nerve to flout a law however ludicrous. Missing our bikes a lot. Thanks for the update for tomorrow. Not too optimistic though about our future here as things are going from bad to worse. Keep...

Bring back the old format web

I have a lifetime of engineering but I'm not PC literate to any great degree. I have mailed my son but he is currently teaching and will get back to me about this. Fair to say he has limited tolerance for certain aspects of change..... As I said this isn't life changing in this overly complex...
