How to find a trustworthy bike shop if…

They do exist, but tend to be very expensive. Long ago Honda made their Step-combo folder and Panasonic made their Will folder, both very stylish with integrated mid motors. Today one of the longest established e-bike makers, Swiss company Biketec, make the Flyer e-bikes and have a neat mid...

If the derestrict involves the use of tools or reprogramming the software, there is no problem if you only ride the pedelec on roads as it was delivered in legal mode. If there's a simple switch to change between the two modes while on the road riding, that is very illegal. The DfT refer that...

A minor legal nicety on this. The EU Pedelec regulations, which we adhere to, now allow a start assist throttle to operate motor only propulsion, without pedalling, while on the bike at up to 6kph before cutting out, which is 3.7mph. But there is also the Pedestrian Controlled Vehicle...

    Brexit, for once some facts.

The sooner we engage reverse and rejoin, the better. That last year borrowing alone represented £5681 per full time UK worker. Our low productivity and falling exports means they cannot possibly earn that surplus, and reducing that £2.5 trillion national debt is only an ever receding dream. .

The email would have been about motor only out of stock. The Woosh person posting here is offering to strip off the rim from a new stock spare wheel BPM for the bikes they've previously sold and build a 20" one specifically to solve your problem, Great service, go for it. .

All agreed. A tadpole would have been a much more suitable option, but there's few with higher seat positions. Spending on the Kettweiser conversion is a risk, though I'm sure the motor option is solved so long as your lady can give some moderate input to the rear at times. It's the front...

Welcome to the forum John. Even when nominally not made in China, most bikes are largely built from Chinese parts. And almost all national leaders are nasty when it suits, it's a necessary part of the job spec. Information Link The Enviolo hub gear has more drag than conventional hub gears...

    Wicked China at it again?

I'd already guessed that was the case, virtually all estimates of steepness are greatly exaggerated. The BPM in a 20" rim geared for 11 mph will handle that ok. My equivalent e-bike, but motor geared for 15.5 mph, climbed the 14% hill to my home almost unaided by me. It would do an unaided...

But I wouldn't enjoy that. I dont know if you remember when I tested a new battery on my Q bike for Ezee Kinetics, riding over 3500 miles in six months with virtually no pedalling to give it a tough time, the most boring riding I've ever done. It's sacrilege to say so in here, but I've never...

Not so much now Simon. Now at 87 no longer able to cycle due to increasingly serious heart trouble meaning limited ability for physical exertion, so driving an e-car instead. I can manage the pedals uphill in that ok (!) and it's almost entirely one pedal like a bumper car anyway. Press to...

That's good Simon, I've found the Kendas to be very good at puncture protection on two pedelecs, also on shitty London roads but never having a Kenda puncture. Train E-bike ban

I've experienced just as bad, maybe worse hysteria. Three days into driving my new e-car it informed me on the dash that my n/s front tyre was slowly losing pressure. Investigating revealed a thin nail into the tread. Leaving it in I popped into a local independent tyre service the next day...

You need a spirit level, you may have one already in a set square or separately, but if not, buy a cheap one from a DIY or tool shop. If you haven't got one, also get an extending rule with centimetres on it. Then get a strip of straight metal or wood and cut it to exactly 50 centimetres long...

Distorting again, I have made no blank denial about e-bikes for the disabled not existing. I'm aware of some adaptations, but so rare that I've never actually seen one in all the decades I've been associated with e-bikes. Care to give any links to e-bikes being sold expressly for the disabled? .
