    Brexit, for once some facts.

Some of you will remember that out of curiosity shortly before Xmas I checked WeBuyAnyCar for my very low mileage Nissan Leaf's price. I've just received the sixteenth email from them, still pleading to buy it. That is how desperately short of e-cars the market is, so much for the silly media...

Many of us have long been telling you to to cut your losses. You should have scrapped the e-rider straight after buying it and taken the £350 loss. Now you've grown that to £530 loss, so please accept that and write it off to experience. Whatever you do, don't spend more to make that loss...

Peterson and all who think like him are obviously crackpots. The Oxford scheme is simply a variant on London's congestion charge and it could be just as successful if implemented strongly enough. The only criticisms I have of the scheme is that they are making two many exceptions and being too...

    Law change?

Yes, they are EAPCs, but only in Great Britain since this is a local provision by the DfT, not applicable anywhere else in Europe. So if taking your 250LPM onto the Eurostar or ferry, disconnect the throttle first. It was in part to accommodate a situation unique to Britain between 2003 and...

Once again no, I have not said do nothing. Of course encourage cycling, but be realistic, which you are very far from being. We are never going to get this country cycling in remotely the way the Dutch do it, so drop the fanaticism. The Dutch started strongly in 1972 from 40% still cycling...

No. I'm saying recognise what has been achieved both accidentally and deliberately and stop hammering on with futile arguments that achieve nothing: Although total vehicle mileage has risen as the fleet has expanded, the mileage per average individual has greatly reduced, by around 39% in...

To make it worse shapps edited whatsistwat out of the pics https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-politics-64223974 This forum's software is getting worse. I received an alert saying that you were quoting me with this post, instead of snafu whose post it was. .

Partial settlement in Rad Power fatal e-bike crash case

There is no federal minimum age for riding an e-bike in the USA. Four states only have minimum age limits at or above 14 years, but 13 states require some form of moped or other driving licence to ride an e-bike, so in effect making a minimum age. There's no minimum in mainland Europe's main...

Agreed, but people being what they are, they dont see it as their problem. Just like the COP climate talks, it's all the other countries that should do something about it. Eventually as the climate and pollution issue situations get ever more dangerous, changes will be forced to happen, but...

You can say that again. Yesterday as I walked the length of supermarket car park against a biting icy wind I was damn glad to get into my nice warm car to go the five miles home. Even more so when it started to pour with rain half way. And that's from someone who has cycled most of his...

Let's not make up figures. The 2021 census showed 20.7% of households did not have a car, halving your quoted top number. At that time there were 12 cars for every 10 households in Great Britain. .

Being opposed to the continuation of royalty and offended by being called a subject rather than a citizen, it suits me to see them self destructing. Since about 1960 their only value was being a tourism asset, but I think that is reducing now, thanks to their behaviours. .

No, I couldn't stand any more of Harry's mournful complaints. At least when Edward VIII abdicated he did the decent thing by moving abroad with his unapproved wife and keeping his mouth shut. Harry lacks that wisdom. I watched BBC2 digging up dirt instead, but of the archaeological variety...

I think they are safe enough, but I woudn't take the above as a recommendation. The Japanese regard a typical cycling speed as being 15 kph (9.4 mph). Much of their city cycling has to be on the pavements at below 8 mph. A cyclist would struggle to be unsafe at those speeds ! .

What have the Romans ever given us?

While I agree with the sentiments, it was easy to build that traditional way with Welsh population densities My 1967 London home was built to the planning requirements at the time for 35 homes per acre. Now it's 50 homes per acre, both ruling out any possibility of 3 foot thick walls. And to...

Yes indeed. I just wish more would use them in the most efficient mode as we all used to years ago, content with only putting in walking effort but at about 3 times average walking speed. So many now ride much faster with considerable effort to battle air resistance for diminishing returns. .

Countryside riders targeted by bike thieves amid record lows in police detection rates

Quite the opposite. The waiting times are shrinking as the makers up production to match the greatly increased sales. This will continue to happen as the deadline for ic sales gets closer, until the supply of those with enough money runs out. That won't be for at least ten years yet though...
