Morphix I assume you have seen the Goldant (Keyde) motor thread ?
The problem with their controller is it is pedelec only. They did do an update and provided a throttle for us but the pedelec takes priority (the throttle kicks in once the pedelec has started the motor) and if you stop pedaling...
My order is only for £50 so no big shakes its a risk I know I take when I order. They have offered a refund if they fail to ship but as I said its a known gamble.
Surely sea freight would still attract import duty/VAT ?
I spoke to Ping who said he was now offering sea freight shipping of his...
Hi just had an update. I think it is to do with their national holiday and the fact that they are clamping down on batteries being posted.
Fortunately my items are not for a huge amount just some cells for my DIY batteries. It appears that the authorities are re-looking at the way batteries are...
I have just had a very strange email to say that due to a problem of over load all Chinese post is delayed.
I am told there is a big meeting about how they are going to resolve this.
I wonder if the recent holiday has caused a huge back log ?

One of the beauties of the Brompton and the Dahons (not all have them fitted) is they have a frame mount front carrier block which allows you to use quick clip on luggage on the front of the frame, which is not effected by steering. With a front hub this makes any bag controller/battery...
Fighting talk :p
Brompton Ti with 1.6kg Goldant front hub motor, 13.5kg "bike carry weight" and about 2kg bag weight including battery and controller in the other hand
I fear you may be searching for the Holy Grail in that you want light and quite a bit of power. I think Tongxin use to do...
I have found with pedelec I almost prefer a brake cut out because of "over run".
My experience with pedelec (not a lot) also makes me prefer to have throttle as well.
If I could only have one, it would most certainly be throttle.

Nice looking bikes for which a lot of thought and effort has obviously gone into the design.
As highlighted though, you are pretty much locked into their battery replacement unless it is possible to re-cell them when the batteries fail in a few years.

Thanks for posting. Certainly different, more so once I realised the rear wheel steered
I am not sure what I think though the short wheel base seems very strange.
PS as stated gear options are certainly limited!

Some one is selling them for a lot more too
TONARO COMPY CRANK DRIVE ELECTRIC BICYCLE BIKE | eBay
Ah just realised there are lots of different models. So the cheaper ones only have front suspension ?
Jerry
Yes I have always liked the look of those. If I was not into small wheeled bikes or needed a full size bike with a lot more power I would snap one of those up.
As Lynda says I wonder why a kitchen/door handle shop is selling them ?

Oh and this new battery measures 200mm * 80mm * 70mm so will fit in the back pocket of a Brompton C bag :D
So 36v (41v at full charge), 6Ah, 1.8kg and 200*80*70mm.
I am currently testing a 3Ah version one at the moment.

Muckymymits. I have pondered this over and over and although headways are ideal they are just sooooo big and heavy.
I just need something a little bigger than my 2.3Ah for longer non commute journeys.
12s1p Headways would be nearer £200 by the time you include bars, cell holders and postage...
John as you know I have purchased from them in the past though I think this ebayer is the same/supplies them. You can email him his name is Ray and again I have purchased quite a few of my cells/6s1p packs from him. Remember its a Chinese holiday so sites may be down/unchecked and ebay seller...
