    eMezzo conversion continuation

Yes sorry I meant the Q75 CWAH. I would love to try one but have way too many other projects on the go at the moment. Oops no I meant the Q85. This one Q85 36V200W-250W Front Driving V-Brake Hub Motor - BMSBATTERY Regards Jerry

    eMezzo conversion continuation

No only used the Nano and Goldant. I have considered the Q100 but would only use the narrow 80mm wide one. If I get time I may have a play around with one. I am told it runs louder which would put me off. However I suspect it would perform better/give me more grunt, but the Tongxin is more than...

    Kettle-plug power connector alternatives?

Big Deans plug connector fan here for the last 4 years of ebiking. If I was starting again I would look seriously at xt60 connectors though. Too much hassle to change them all over now. As others have said comes from the RC hobby from which I spent many years in. Ps it goes without saying...

    eMezzo conversion continuation

With a Keyde Goldant motor in a 16" wheel I get around 14mph of assist on a 36V battery fully charged i.e. 41.5V. This equates to about 17mph on a 20" wheel. It does drop down to about 13mph as the battery discharges though. This is using third party controller for throttle as the stock...

    Bigfish folding ebike

Good points Kirstin. My lightest Brompton is 36V, has a 3Ah battery and weighs under 15kg fully loaded with bag and battery attached, or 11.5kg without bag and battery. Jerry

    Bigfish folding ebike

Yes I have seen the earlier non e versions of the Bigfish and even saw it in the flesh. The fold seemed strange and a little cumbersome. These have been selling off cheap recently. Thanks for posting the e version details. Certainly interesting Regards Jerry

Non LED throttles and female motor connector wires - Source ?

Does anyone have a source for these ? I emailed Tongxin but they want $80 postage! Maybe BMS battery would be cheaper though I cant seem to find the three pin female connector wires on their site. Regards Jerry

    How will a BMS-less battery die ?

I think he means it enables you to check/charge up to six cells individually at a time i.e. first 6 and then last 4. Not sure but I am sure Dave will explain. All my packs are home built with no BMS and I either split them into 2 * 6s or 2 *5s for ease of balancing. I use cells that retain...

Back to track, complete brompton maintenance

Looking much tidier cwah. I would make a small bracket out of 1-2mm thick aluminum sheet and then rivet it to the mud guard. Or just find a generic bracket. Jerry

    Cheap Brompton Conversion Kit?

I use them on the Brompton but you have to either use the cheap Chinese cutout brakes, or (I am hoping) the new Brompton brake levers which now replace the old ones that had a wide base and got in the way of the throttle. The new brake levers Brompton aluminium brake lever for S-type, M-type ...

    EBCO UCL60 - Comments ?

Picked the bike up after work after we both first took it out for a spin round the car park outside Halfords. We were really surprised how much torque it had given it only has a 24V battery. Its certainly more than her DIY build which is 36V and has a Tongxin in the front wheel. In usual...

    New build.

:( I still think the smaller narrow width Tongxin/Keyde motors have a market for small wheeled/folding bikes. But I agree if weight is not an issue I would use another motor. The roller bearings do of course also make them quieter if stealth is required. It will be interesting to see as time...

    EBCO UCL60 - Comments ?

Yep put down 10% yesterday :p They still have the mens version UCR60 at the same price if anyone wants it. PS Halfords stock the lower spec ones UCL 20 in most branches but these don't have the Nexus 8 rear hub, suspension front forks, roller brakes and have a smaller battery. Jerry

    EBCO UCL60 - Comments ?

"EBCO Ebikes use the very latest Lithium Polymer batteries" Do they mean Li-Ion or do they really use Polymer batteries ? Jerry

    EBCO UCL60 - Comments ?

Thanks MS. She has had the condition since her second year of Uni when she had to take a year off. She returned home and spent three months in bed. All very traumatic for someone so young. The condition is better understood now but even back then there was a lot of misunderstanding and judgement...

Brompton M2L-X (Titanium) - Super Lightweight Pedelec Conversion

Wouldn't you be better with a Q85 ? 36H means you have to use a Sun CR18 rim. Ah I see the Q85 is rated less than the Q100. Also you may have to spread the forks more than 100mm if the sides don't clear the Brompton fork sides as you will need to insert spacer washers. Regards Jerry

What is the wire colour standard for JST-XH leads ?

The connector end to end is the standard not the color wiring. They will only plug in one way (though I guess you could force them the wrong way) and to the same type of connector. Jerry
