    Hall sensor connection

Wisper are active on this forum and they may be able to supply the technical specifications for the motor if they still have records that go back that far. They are unlikely to be able to assist with your current problem. Apart from maybe supplying an identical controller to your original. But...

    Pedal powered family transport?

This one is cool, it even has a steering wheel. It would need a mid drive motor though. Shame it’s left hand drive. https://www.getcycling.org.uk/products/berg-gran-tour-racer/

    Hall sensor connection

Ok keep going with the C2 settings. The good news is it looks like your throttle is working because it’s sending a signal to the controller when you turn it. We are asking you to adjust C2 because we are running out of ideas. Your motor is very old and we don’t know anything about it.

    Hall sensor connection

Hold on a minute. Are you saying error 03 has gone after updating your settings without changing C2? If you have got rid of error 03 then leave C2 at 0 for the time being.

    Hall sensor connection

The throttle and pas still may not work if you get rid of error 03 by adjusting C2. But there is another procedure for that. The important thing is to have no errors on the display first.

    Hall sensor connection

Strange about P5, but that’s not important for the time being. Yes, cycle through the C2 values to change the hall sensor phase timings. I tried it on my bike yesterday. My Bafang motor should be set to 0 and when I started adjusting C2 it didn’t like it. We are assuming your motor is not a...

    Pedal powered family transport?

European e-bikes are so boring. There is definitely a cultural difference between Europe and the US. In Europe we focus much more on function rather than form. And in the US the trend is to completely ignore the law and make bikes as powerful as possible.

    Pedal powered family transport?

And also the one I posted is huge and ok for US side roads, but UK roads are another kettle of fish. Especially with kids on board.

    Pedal powered family transport?

Have you considered a side car for one of the girls and a pillion for the other? Although this one is 750w for the US market. And isn’t a budget option. It could be made a bit more UK legal by dialling back the controller and removing the throttle and a 250w sticker on the motor. And another...

    Hall sensor connection

Set C12 = 4 to set default for battery low voltage cut off C8 = 0 to disable motor temperature sensor C7 = 0 to disable cruise control C4 = 0 to enable full power of the throttle in all assist levels C2 = Try all of the settings to see if error code 03 disappears. If not then reset back to 0...

Probably a good idea if you list all of your P and C settings

    Hall sensor connection

I had a fault exactly the same as this once, with no obvious sign of anything wrong with my connectors. I crimped new pins on the wires and the fault disappeared. One of those pins was no good and wasn’t making proper contact when plugged in.

    Hall sensor connection

It means the hall sensors are working and the wiring to the connector is ok, but you already tested them the other day. If your new controller doesn’t work then you still have wiring issues with your new controller if you are still getting the 03 error. The symptom still suggests a bad...

    Hall sensor connection

“4. Do you mean set all five P display settings to 1?” No I mean the PAS assistance level, which can be set from 0 to 5 on the display using the up and down buttons. It’s easy to forget to set it when testing. If you leave it at 0 then PAS and throttle won’t work. But you need to get rid of...

    Hall sensor connection

You have to fix the problem that gives error code 03 otherwise nothing will work. The red and black wires must be ok otherwise you wouldn’t have been able to supply voltage to the hall sensors yesterday. So carefully inspect the connections for the yellow, blue and green hall wires. I don’t...

Tomorrow is fine, because you are going to hate what we are going to ask you to do next.

    Hall sensor connection

That’s good news and indicates your hall sensors are working correctly. Now do the same on the pas between white and black by rotating the pedals very slowly. Your pas sensor may have a red light that will flash on and off as well.

    Hall sensor connection

You have to turn the wheel slowly in an anti-clockwise direction as Nealth said, otherwise the hall sensors won’t turn on and off. It is important to do it anti-clockwise and not clockwise because if you have a geared motor the test won’t work because the clutch won’t engage. When you turn the...

    Magnets on pedal sensor

Yeah, forget that. I just checked and P13 can only be set to 5, 8 and 12 magnets.

    Magnets on pedal sensor

That is your display, do you know what make/model of your controller? Some controllers will accommodate all of the magnet variations, but it does mean that you have to move the sensor and disc to the opposite side of the bottom bracket and use a reverse setting in the controller.
