    Cheap Brompton Conversion Kit?

Pat I am a big fan of Tongxin motors for Bromptons if you want to keep it light. If you want raw power then a Bafang is probably better. 24v will draw more current and require more substantial wiring. Whilst I agree this is a great deal, fitting a 100mm wide motors into Brompton 75mm wide...

    Brompton Tongxin Wheel Builder

I have built quite a few Tongxin 16" Brompton and 20" wheels now and would be happy to do it for you if you are stuck. Alan (catsnapper) is around and I certainly don't want to take business off him. If you PM me I will give you his email address. Regards Jerry

Wisper ties up distributor deal for Grace bikes e-bikes in the UK

Just read back through this post. If these bikes really are selling in high numbers the market really must be different there ? I am not sure in the current climate/market in the UK you would see many sales of these bikes. Regards Jerry

Tongxin motorlaced in 700c Mavic rim

Hi Amigafan I have a saved search for Tongxin on ebay and just got the prompt for that :) I have nearly 4000 miles on my Brompton one now. If treated well these motors seem to be very robust. Regards Jerry

Wisper ties up distributor deal for Grace bikes e-bikes in the UK

Already a belt drive convert, albeit that its still a horses for courses thing. For rear hub drives and bikes like mine which are portable there are many advantages. I have a Moulton TSR 2 which splits in two for easier transport another big advantage of belt drive not getting oil all over you...

    Speedict Power/bike computer

I have bitten the bullet and ordered one now. NRG I am planning to use an old Samsung Galaxy Portal hacked and running Android 2.1 and will not be running it on my every day phone a HTC Desire S. Any reason why you would have to use your iPhone ? Regards Jerry

    Tongxin Goldant 700c build

Well as Ed got back to me with all the details about his Lyen controller. I have gone with his offering over ecrazyman. Seems like a really helpful chap. This is probably my favoured option as well given that it is suppose to work well with throttle only on the Goldant motor, looking at you...

    Speedict Power/bike computer

I don't see that it has to be a distraction as it logs all the data for you to look at it later. No need to have any display running when riding. The latest releases with options to interrupt and change the throttle and max/min voltage/current make it look like a very useful device for us DIY...

    Speedict Power/bike computer

Check the web site. I have trawled through the documentation and from what I can tell it stores 12 hours of data onto the 1MB of eternal storage. This can then be downloaded to your phone later. You will of course need to connect with your phone when you set it up initially or if you want to...

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

Yes he did say balls lol As you say the fold is "unusual". Second hand I have seen them go for as low as £250. I almost purchased just the frame a while back on this forum for £150. I just know though, that the Moulton and Brompton would out perform it. Regards Jerry

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

A comprehensive reply which makes your requirements clear. If you just want a smaller version of your folding MTB then the JetStream sounds ideal and the suspension will make up for the smaller wheels. Ebike gear wise I think one gear is not enough for an ebike in that you have to compromise...

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

Yes good point I have seen that Flecc, but as you say that then ties up the the front for a lightweight front hub motor. Regards Jerry

My current 20" folding bike short list for next conversion...

Have you ridden any of these bikes ? I have spent nearly three years searching out the perfect portable ebike and for me its still a Brompton with a small front hub motor. For me the perfect portable bike would be the Brompton with suspension both ends with either with 16" or 20" wheels...

    Tongxin Goldant 700c build

Thanks for the detail NRG. I have emailed them both with my requirements and will see what quotes they come back with. I have always struggled with understanding some of this stuff and as you say this will give me a chance to have a play. I am also interested in having a play with the speedict...
