Rider weight and electric bike performance

Missed the science of it to, leaving out pumping potential energy into a "mass", by lifting it higher, ie going uphill.

    Council recycling centre bike access

In Covid 19 restriction times, our Hampshire Household Waste Disposal Centres have adopted an appointment based system, rigorously upheld. That arrangement I can understand the logic base. I book my slots on their web site, a bit tedious as popular times are just that "popular" and quickly...

this is really a big problem. The electric motor touches the brake. Please advise.

Is it not that the hub can't yet be fixed with the shaft nut, simply because it fouls the calliper on initial offering up? Frame spreading and inserting a spacer washer?

So... How much should I Dremel this bottom bracket?

Dare you work a tap in a little further, LINK ? Its lead in section, will bore, true and in line, only where the excess metal you need to ease away is.

So... How much should I Dremel this bottom bracket?

Is there any merit in using a cheap, electric drill driven cylinder hone? LINK I would add, it is not a task I have done, but just musing on how I might do it if I needed to. Identifying what needs Dremel attention, if going that route, would be something I would try to resolve before...

    Where are Wisper Bikes Manufactured?

I feel both the terms "manufactured" and "build" imply far more than the reality of the situation, which surely in this industry is better described as "assembled"?

Is there a universal mid mount motor standard going to be developed?

I would like to think some level standardisation or various standards will happen, it has to a large extent in the components of bicycles, they even once standardised on threads.

Help! Newbie looking for my first hybrid ebike

I had not thought of doing it asymmetrically, but equally on both sides, and had said "batteries". Whilst some might struggle, possibly me now at my age, I have cycled a fair few miles on a crossbar bike with panniers. Just thought mounting the batteries in that fashion, addresses some part of...

Help! Newbie looking for my first hybrid ebike

The Santana though, has the pannier rack battery that was expressly stated was not preferred. On that point, is there a solid reason the batteries can't actually beneficially be mounted as panniers, side mounted lowering the CoG that I believe is why technically the rack top mounting is not...

Broken rear spoke. Caused by rear motor?

Agreed, and that vital flexibility allows the load to be shared with adjacent spokes, not all being at one point. Not only does it save spokes it saves the hub flange too, if the spokes spread the load over a few holes. It does not stop there the wheel's increased flexibility, compliance, in...

    looking for electric step through

It may be stating the obvious, but opting for smaller wheels can reduce the step over height. My wife with an injury issue that inhibited her step over ability, opted for the 26" wheel variant of a bike offered with that and 28" wheels.

    Cycle carrier advice please

I am not seeing the issues you might specifically face with step through frames? The bikes are likely to have to be "nested", facing opposite ways. The VeloSpace featues a wide "bed" thus separating crank/pedal clashes ought to be as good as it gets. Concerns could be how wide the outer bike...

    Tow bar bike carrier advice

Tow ball mounting bike "carriers" of this ilk where the wheels are planted in tracks are well suited for step through frames. LINK Tow ball mounting bike carriers, of the type where the bikes hang, have some challenges carrying step through frames, though not insurmountable. LINK. A way around...

Are electric bikes legal in Spain?

Our 2016 Kalkhoff Agattu has what is effectively a throttle but defined as a walk aid. The handbook, multi languages, describes this only as that, with a warning it must not be used when ridden. Is this in the forum's opinion a warning for EU legal or simply technical reasons, as I struggle to...

    Powerbikes Are Hiring!

    looking for electric step through

I had no intention to put you off altogether just point out the first time you try an e-bike I believe you can't help but be impressed, they are impressive just like you have someone else contributing to help move it. If you inherently like cycling, and are getting a bus concession by age, then...

    looking for electric step through

Can I suggest it is all too easy to be "impressed" with an initial test ride of an e-bike, actually any e-bike and that is a danger. Trying a few I found them quite different and recommend resisting making a purchase till you have tried a few, with differing drive and control systems. Much more...

DBO-7 does anyone have any information or views on this bike

Google brings up THIS I would have concerns about the torsional stiffness of the trailing rear fork. Another search brought up a dreadful depreciation of one on E-bay. Novel for novel's sake? And for a much "cooler" man than me, are my initial sentiments.

    Tow bar bike carrier advice

For "hang on" bike racks, where the bike cross bar for example sits on "rods" there are for non cross bar bikes, like many female bikes, false cross bars. Like "THIS" Having said that we have used a Thule "Hang on" rack for twenty years and it is great for our road bikes, but I have never dared...
