    Two youtube videos for interest

I love RJ The Bike Guy, he's my go to guy for bike maintenance. I found those videos you posted interesting, the guy came across a bit weird at first but he grew on me. Interesting bit in the comments on the chrome bike: "As an ASE certified advanced level specialist, we are trained to never...

    Chain length

You could always dump your front derailleur and shifter and 3 ring chainrings altogether and go for a single chainring setup. It saves weight, simplifies things and removes those 'big cog to big chainring' woes. Relatively cheap and easy job. I have a rear hub motor and hardly ever use the...

    Shock absorber seat post

Don't forget, if you do get a Suntour, you will need a seatpost shim, plenty on Amazon or eBay. I think the size you'll need is 27.2mm to 31.6mm, but you'll need to check that. Summer's coming!

    Shock absorber seat post

I have a Suntour NCX seatpost and it moves down and to the rear as one goes over bumps. It seems to work fine and adds a bit of comfort, I'd recommend one easily. Your new bike looks great and it looks like there would be plenty of room for a Suntour post. Nice big 27.5 x 2.2 inch tyres on...

    Shock absorber seat post

Back and to the rear as it operates. It is also adjustable. I believe there are different spring strengths available to better match the rider's weight. What bike do you have?

Help! PSW conversion kit on Carrera Subway 2?

Yes you are missing something! Woosh already said earlier in this thread he does a 27.5 XF07 Front Wheel kit LOL For anyone living in the UK, Woosh is a great choice, great advice pre-purchase, great after sales service, great warranty. What are you waiting for? Get your hand in your pocket...

Help! PSW conversion kit on Carrera Subway 2?

This video shows a guy removing and installing a 'normal' or square taper bottom bracket, also called a sealed cartridge bottom bracket. These were the standard for many years on bikes. A lot of modern bikes now have bottom brackets where the bearings are in cups outside the frame. <iframe...

I did not know that...thanks, I feel better about my 26" wheels now!

Help! PSW conversion kit on Carrera Subway 2?

For inspiration here is my 20 year old Trek with a Woosh rear hub conversion, pretty easy job really. 26" wheels with disc brakes, since this picture was taken I have upgraded the front brake to hydraulic (massive improvement) for £30. The tyres are only slightly knobbly. I intend to upgrade...

Help! PSW conversion kit on Carrera Subway 2?

Tyres are easily changed, but yeah, the problem is wheel size, if you upgraded your Claude Butler and liked it (which you will) and then thought about upgrading to a newer disc braked bike and transplanting your kit, you are stuck with 26" wheeled bikes. Mind you there are plenty of used 26"...

Help! PSW conversion kit on Carrera Subway 2?

What make and model is your 30 year old mountain bike? My Trek is 20 years old and it works well with my conversion kit.

Help! PSW conversion kit on Carrera Subway 2?

I believe the Subway2 comes with 27.5" wheels but that kit does not list that wheel size. With the left-hand PAS sensor shown with that kit, you need to ensure there is sufficient room between your left crank and your bottom bracket. I have one and it was very easy to fit, very tidy and it...

    Conversion costs

I bought one of these back in the Nineties, it was one of the first Bandit 600s in the country. It was the first and only brand new bike I ever bought. I got it from Peter Hammond's in Cirencester. I used to ride BSAs with drum brakes that were next to useless. Look at the brakes on the Suzuki...

    Converting Carrera Subway 2

It should look something like this, you can experiment with washers until you get it set up right. Ideally, both sides should be the same When I installed my kit I removed the chain and brake caliper so I could try different washer set-ups more easily, then I refitted the caliper with loose...
