So my chain was coming off in lower gears, closer inspection :

63700

This is on a Bafang mid drive. Any recommendations ? ( 10 speed cassette))

I use KMC X10.93 with my Gravel bike, though not much use to you as in longevity as it is a friction drive and not mid drive .
My 9sp TSDZ2 I use KMC X9.93 .

KMX X series are my go to chain, bar my Alfine 8 for which I use a KMC single speed chain.

All my chains I use in pairs and rotate them for cleaning .

I use a KMC X8, and I've never had one break like that. But my mid-motor is a lowly 36V "250W" Bafang BBS01B @20A on a 20" wheeled bike.

The failed chain has the X in the side plate that says KMC. Unless it's a fake, no reason to change as they have a great reputation.

Snapped like that suggests brutal gear changes or high mileage on a rather more than 250W motor.

Can't help with 10 speed, but I'm having great results this dry summer with both SRAM PC1110, their cheapest, and Shimano Cues LG500. Changed chains twice, at 800 miles then 1400 miles and only 0.3% elongation each time. Third chain doing fine at 1100 miles. All will get used at least one more session on this year's cassette.

Cues is 11 speed dimensions regardless of whether the cassette is 9, 10 or 11.

Halfords recently had a sale price online only for the longer 138 link LG500 chain, £15.99. I need 122, so my usual cheap 114s get extended with links from another chain set aside for that purpose. I bought a couple of years' worth. Not quite enough to build an extra from the offcuts!

Three years! Any idea of the mileage it had done?

I've put a lot more mileage on my hub motored bikes (don't tell @saneagle ) and I use this for more off road when it gets very steep and/or very rough ground. Just checked the odometer - 1376 miles

Connex ebike chain and buy a chain checker.
If your chain measures 0.75 on it then replace the chain, if it measures 1 then replace the chain and cassette
Buy two new chains
Use one (1) until it measures 0.5
Use the other new chain (2) until it measures 0.5
Put first chain (1) back on and use it until it measures 0.75 and then bin
Put second chain (2) back on and use it until it measures 0.75 and then bin.
Once the two chains have been used then replace cassette

I go through the chains three times each, nothing lost as the cassette gets binned, just a bit later. The third time through is dirty, wet winter conditions, low mileage, wait until spring before the new cassette goes on.

I treat my entire drivetrain like shiz, never clean it, I simply chuck more Hypoid-90 on. Chains etc. are so cheap for my bike, aint worth stressing about. In fact, I've stopped keeping track. Works perfectly. Look away clean freaks.

The only time I change cassettes is simply for more gearing , like Guerney I use gearbox oil and that's it bar swapping a chain out for clean now and then.
A typical rider doesn't imv need to bother about fussing for chain stretch or a new cassette every few chains .

Chuck the mid-drive and get a hub-motor.
Well lets play that one out.
Dump the motor you have- unlikely it will sell, and spend another £500+

Or replace the chain at a cost of 20 quid.

£59 for a motor, £10 for spokes, £60 for control set, £0 ever after for chains and cassettes, plus a better ride, and no more crashing gears that break your bike and leave you stranded.

That just reminded me, how are you getting on with your Buzzbike ?
Rear motor/cog interface(freewheel/freehub) makes a kind of clunking noise when back peddling - kind of feels like the cog is loose but the lockring is tight and theres no play in the system. Turn the system backw3ards and it makes a clunk rather than a click.

Problem with not knowing these 'freehub- or freewheel', whatever the fek if is in there. So i dont know if this is normal, or should i strip it down

Small battery, but it is a townie bike, so thats part and parcel, with the streamlining of the frame there isnt much space for a bigger battery
That said, for basic around town, visiting family, theres enough battery power for all those tasks.
Torque is low, so big or particularly steep you're better getting off and walking, which isnt helped but only having the 2 gears.

The basic 2 pot tektro were just garbage, so I whacked on a pair of Shimano M520 4pots which is a seriously good brake.

Overall - I like the design of the bike, and i really am getting on with the Gates belt as opposed to the chain.
Shame about the low torque and battery, but thats part and parcel of a city bike, and it was originally designed around London use where its going to be shortish journeys and nothing steep

I'd certainly give it a 7/10

Obviously we cannot directly compare a full on full suss E-Enduro to a city runabout but tbh im not finding any positives so high that I can differentiate between a rear and mid of the 2 Ebikes I own

One thing I do like about the mid is it is a better balance of weight

first off I dont know what you mean about "Crashing gears" can you explain ?

But the main point is- £130 as opposed to 20 quid. OK not 500 bucks, but still 6x as much. Or in reality its 13x as a tenner for a chain is norm for single speed(0-8spd)

"£0 ever after for chains and cassettes" now now, lets not be silly :D Chains wear. Cogs wear, both need replaced at some point.

I embrace both systems. Im not as blinkered as yourself old chap.

Isn't @saneagle mostly using a 48V mid drive TSDZ2 at the minute ?
