New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

My concern is that they *do* understand the new regulations and have made a business descision to stop selling to the UK rather than become involved with the new system. Their view might change once the new regulations have settled down and everyone (including the relevant governments) has...

Average shipping cost from China to UK?

If you're not after anything specific, maybe start with a new frame from here (UK supplier - many items are surplus stock etc), a quick look says their frames for mid-mount motors start under £90 ;) I keep thinking about one of their cruiser fames just to use up some part i have :cool...

Is it possible to convert a ladies Dutch bike to electric

Hi, I fixed up a neglected Dutch Town bike that was originally elecric and it's very nice to ride. I'm sure yours can be converted to electric. The easy place to fit the battery is on a rack above the rear wheel - anywhere else needs thinking about due to the shape of the frame, and you don't...

Kemp Starley Dutch Town Bike - out of hibernation.

I’m still making (slow) progress, the bike is now in regular use. I still need to tidy the wiring at the controller (in a bag behind the seat for now). It's all good fun

    Lishui controller

There are a few other UK suppliers who might have one in stock, look around the forum and you should find a list of several. You need to make sure the connections on the one you buy match yours, some have a round waterproof "bullet" type, others are a wide flat connector. Also make sure it is...

    Lishui controller

I bought one the same from Yose (Germany?) on Ebay last year, since Brexit they have set up a uk-only ebay shop https://www.ebay.co.uk/usr/ysbatteryuk Their uk store is quite new, maybe send them a message and see if they have a controller in stock they can list for you. If ordering from EU or...

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

@soundwave thanks for the link, a very well presented view of why he stopped shipping to the UK. I'd like to think UK.Gov will realise their new system is preventing UK from purchasing from overseas but I'm not convinced they will reverse or suspend their plans. Time will tell.

New VAT rules for overseas sellers supplying goods to UK customers - Any experiences yet?

It's very early but I saw a response from a USA bike parts (motorbike - not cycle) supplier, he has decided to refuse to process any UK orders under $180. Above this value UK customs handle any duty due - this is business as usual for him. To process orders below this value he would have to...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

I'm using a second hand controller (thanks @PC2017 ) and a new KT-LCD4 display (it was in a sale but I do like the compact layout - especially compared to the larger Lishui & LCD3 screens). Yesterday the speed on the display was about half the speed according to my gps, today I've tried...

    cargo bike conversion

The bike looks very useful, I had an idea of the front forks but wasn't sure about the details. I have a similar hub brake on one of my bikes it works (sort-of) but I understand why you would like to upgrade it. Hopefully somebody else can think of a solution, and make the project work for you :)

    cargo bike conversion

Hi @ph1 do you have a photo of your bike? One option to upgrade your brakes, I recently bought new suspension forks for a disk brake conversion for £25 from bankrupt-bike-parts (look on ebay or amazon)...

    Yosepower hub kits.

Hi @ComradeOtter - more experienced folk might have better suggestions but just for info... I have the same kit and have just fitted it to a bike with a Hollowtech2 crank so it is possible but you would need to modify bits. I had to open out the center hole in the pedal sensor disk to fit around...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

Hi @egroover - it's too early for me to tell you much. Today was the first run (5 miles) since I uncrated the bike and fitted the kit. It's a decent off-road spec but most of my trips are on quiet B-roads and gravel tracks, handling feels good and sharp, I have a habit of always lifting the...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - onto Spanish mtb by Mondraker

Just to close this - the Yose kit has been removed to use it on a new project and will be converted from Lishui to KT as part of the transplant. https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/yose-350-rear-hub-kit-transplanted-onto-scott.40186/ The kit worked fine and never let me down but I'm not...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

First job was to remove the built-in Lishui controller from the Yose battery, then run new wires from the battery to the KT controller in the bag. Next the PAS. Remove the Hollowtech2 axle (no special tools needed), clip the pas disc onto the low gear, and adjust the gearchange to disable the...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

Backstory: I bought a very nice Scott bike nearly 10 years ago (it's the 2nd bike I've bought new - the first was when I was a teenager!), got it home and the landlord told me the property I was renting had been sold so I needed to move out. The bike got used for 1 day only then went into long...

Yose 350 rear hub kit - transplanted onto Scott !

Time for a new project, the main bits are a rather nice Scott 29er (immaculate!) + Yose/Lishui 350w 26” rear wheel kit + random KT parts collected from various places. Remove the 29er wheels, fit the Yose 26" rear wheel & matching front wheel, modify 180mm caliper to fit the 160mm disk. Let the...

    Connectors

As above, I have seen report that the 9 pin harness is for lights, 8 pin is for bikes without lights. I've not checked myself but it makes sense.

    Yosepower hub kits.

@Yak ^ I've been using a Yose kit for 6 months as my only transport (and first E-bike) and it's been great. I like the motor and the battery seems fine ( it actually felt slightly "stronger" after I had used it for a few months). The downside for me is the controller (by Lisui) as the settings...

    Yosepower hub kits.

How strange, a few days ago their orignal store was still showing stock - all items had a note "we have UK EU warehouse,we can send it from EU or UK". Now that seller shows no stock https://www.ebay.co.uk/str/ysbattery2012 I guess they have stopped selling to the UK from their orignal account...
