One of the draw backs with shaft drive is the loss of power delivered through the drive train. Everytime a power delivery system changes direction there is a loss of power. Chain or belt drive will always be more efficient.

Having test ridden both systems, my personal preferance is the Yamaha. The Sduro comes in a 45cm frame that should be perfect for you even with the 29" wheels.

If you got the bike in a box and it was never checked, a simple gear adjustment may fix you up. There is an ebike shop in city center that sells and service Haibikes.

Like Mike says, 11 teeth is small. The actual numer of teeth engaged by the chain can be adjusted slightly. The single screw that rests against the dropout can be turned out to let the mech engage more of the gear with the chain. This however can affect the smoothness of your shifting.

Put your bike in first gear and try to pull the chain away from the gear teeth. If you can see more than 1/8" of space under the chain, it could be worn out. Sorry to disagree Dave, but the 11t looks scalloped out and a new cassette may be in order.

At £1,500 to replace it what you are asking is a great deal. Unfortunately I'm not in the market right now. This will make someone a great bike.
