    A pedelec without a charger

You're going to put CycleCharge out of business with ideas like that :P Lynda and I were counting on the millions of funding from central government soon to be coming our way to fund our Spanish second homes..err I mean the European CycleCharge centre ;)

    Commuter Light Deal

Nice find, just the ticket for this time of the year. Grab them while stock lasts as they say ;-) I just checked and I have the exact same set on my Mezzo! I never paid a penny for mine though, came free with the bike ;-)

Final limit at 250 watts EU ruling

Yeah and for "simplicity sake" they might just decide to lump all bikes together and we'll all find ourselves having to jump through hoops just to get what's freely available to all at present.. I think it's a can of worms best left alone for UK..what works in Germany where common sense prevails...

Final limit at 250 watts EU ruling

This is probably a sensible compromise approach that fills the gap between pedelec and electric mopeds (of which there is as cost difference and practical benefits I guess for an "S-pedelec".. ). I think it would probably make it easier/clearer and less problematic to present and register a bike...

What is in that subconscious mind of yours?

Interesting post :) For me, I think 350W would be the limit..especially on the sort of small-wheel bike I'm now riding with aluminium frame.. even if they changed the laws I doubt I would be inclined to get more power, because that means bigger battery = more weight. I'm quite happy with 250W...

Final limit at 250 watts EU ruling

Well you explain your views well. I think they are more social and safety considerations, rather than political reasoning behind the legislation on pedelecs. perhaps some would argue 15.5mph is too low a restriction in the real world... but if the speed was raised significantly (when you take...

    I LOVE crusie control!

It be like knight rider? a little green button marked "turbo" that lights up when you press it and the bike suddenly zooms off at the legal 15.5mph ;) A quick getaway, like when I had my brush with the law in town, but that's another story ;)

    350W BMS Battery legality problem

Jeremy so you're saying merely presenting a bike for the approval you mention, with a motor that is CAPABLE of more than 250W nominal output (or even specifically rated as nominal 350W power for example) would render it not deemed to be acceptable for the ebike-type approval? If we just put the...

    I LOVE crusie control!

Aha thanks Jerry, I expect the speed is set like you said then, by holding the cruise control for X seconds and when that cruise control output is closed then bobs your uncle. Would opening the cruise control switch cut the motor out automatically then? And also, while cruise control is...

    I LOVE crusie control!

Cool, I'm waiting on mine too..I've been told I will also get the new model.. I just received this morning actually the mounting bracket for my HTC from Singapore which I ordered several days after the Speedict! I think everything is slow from China at moment..I'm still waiting for a camera I...

    I LOVE crusie control!

The idea of fixing cruise control to the throttle so when you hold it there is intriguing but sounds a bit dangerous/vague to me.. I would prefer a separate cruise control switch I think and have it alongside the throttle, so you don't have to hold the throttle on long straight roads. On a...

    I LOVE crusie control!

How interesting.. I've been looking at the pin out and spec of my KU63 controller and noticed the "cruise control" feature..something I hadn't had on my previous controller.. On this controller it appears to be a simple switch output and it makes no reference to what the cruise speed is though...

Final limit at 250 watts EU ruling

That seems a sensible way.. I think having some form of insurance makes sense, not sure whether it should be voluntary or compulsory though...I think historically road legal bikes have posed very little risk and caused very few severe accidents/damage?... Here's a thought though..if we did have...

Final limit at 250 watts EU ruling

Yeah exactly.. if you have your bike geared high enough and/or you're fit enough, you can go to 15.5mph then pedal and maintain a speed easily that's well above 15.5mph.. That's why I say 15.5mph is sufficient maximum assistance really for bicycles..

    350W BMS Battery legality problem

Some interesting contributions on the legal side of things :) So in a nutshell, it's ok to have a motor that is higher power than 250W fitted on a bike, if you declare its "nominal" power output to be 250W or less (the power at runs at most of the time under normal conditions)... and, it's...

    DNP Epoch Freewheels..and gearing question

I had confirmation my DNP freewheel has been shipped from China on 17th... Chinese postal service tracking site is screwed (server 500 errors) but I'm expecting a looooooong wait. I've been waiting over 30 days for a keyring cam to arrive...I think the Chinese postal inspections are really...

    Weather woes

I remember a loooong time ago I got on the wrong train in Bristol after visiting a uni gf and ended up getting a free tour of Wales compliments of Virgin trains! Seem to be on the train forever, I swear it did every station!

Smallest e-bike battery and motor in the world?

Heh. Just a bit of fun.. some bits in my "lab".. I discovered this curious battery..don't know if you can see in the picture in the middle, it's tiny yet states 12V 23A!! I think it's for a camera for flash maybe, or a lighter perhaps. There's also a tiny ickle 3.7v LiFePO4 and a strange Mitsumi...

    Cannondale CX700 Stoke Monkey Conversion

Alan long time no see! Where you been at? I updated the "camera shake solutions" thread with a finale to it, because I FINALLY got shake-free videos from my MD80 mini camera mounted on handlebar of my Mezzo ;-) And then, literally a week later, the tiny LiFePo4 3.7v battery in the cam...
