New Bosch motors + better battery integration

Being able to remove battery for charging is big plus if travelling. Ideal for topping battery up at cafe over lunch, not to many cafes would allow ebike inside for charging.

New Bosch motors + better battery integration

A little more detail in this article. http://ebiketips.co.uk/content/news/bosch-launch-new-active-line-motors-631 Biggest change is dropping x2.5 gearbox and going to direct drive so standard size chainrings. I thought current Active was 50nm but appears it is 40nm so slightly less powerful...

Not sure what you mean about changing gears.

    IGH gears vs. derailleur

Extra drag is meanless with ebike unless you regularly ride above 15mph assist cutoff.

    Whats the difference.

£4k plus is FS eMTB. Bosch and Shimano mid drive city/commuter bikes are typically in £1700-2500 range. Lower end tend to be smaller battery eg 300-400Wh with derailleur gears. Higher end get hub gears belt drives, more powerful drive and 500wh batteries.

New to ebike - help please

8 spd cassette will be reliable but 9 spd with deore derailluer would be nicer to use. Replaced my rear Altus derailleur for old deore I had, significant improvement in shifting quality.

    Expected lifetime for bike pump

I bought same Lezyne pump after cheap one let me down in middle of nowhere. Not lot of use, do like hose as puts less strain on valve and doesn't take long to get to rideable pressure. Does pay to test your pump every so often.

New to ebike - help please

Do your homework first regarding Shimano hubs, I don't think they are rated for PW 80nm torque. Nuvinci maybe better option.

Most powerful eBike for long uphill journeys?

Bosch CX drive should do it, being torque drive you will have to pedal but I'd be surprised if you broke sweat in low gear on turbo mode. Check out Cube and KTM range of ebikes. Woosh and Whisper do some hubdrive bikes specifically designed for hill climbing but don't expect to do 20% hill...

    IGH gears vs. derailleur

This is why you only see Bosch Performance and CX drives with Nuvinci and Rohloff, never with Alfine or Nexus.

Help me find my right mechanical partner please ;)

May have pay >£2000 for IGH. Shimano STEPs is also worth considering, not much in it between STEPs and Active. I'd recommend trying both will give you more choices if you like STEPs. 400wH battery will easily do 24mile round trip, probably twice at a pince.

Bergamont-E-Ville-A8-500 Any experiences, good or bad?

I rigged up an bike alarm on my car. Ran rack light panel cable through bikes, if unplugged from trailer light socket horn goes off. You might be able to get alarm installer to di something similar if vehicle has car alarm. Keep bikes covered all times, no point in advertising they are ebikes...

Bergamont-E-Ville-A8-500 Any experiences, good or bad?

Well specced, front shock is as good as they get for commuting/trekking bike. You will need shock pump for it. Like battery mount, bonus is that battery could be used on bosch MTB unlike rack mount versions.

Full suspension for part road use any good?

For commuting and light to moderate trail riding a 27+ hardtail might be better. Definitely cheaper and less work to maintain than FS. Most hardtails have mounts for rack and panniers which should be high on you list for commuter. After a year or two you should be able to justify a FS from...

Bike park wales extra £7 for e-bikes.

I assuming you havn't ridden a legal eMTB. The wear a tear on track from climbing eMTB is nothing close to wear and tear from heavy braking of descending bikes. The more likely reason is eMTB don't pay extra for lift passes.
