    New Name for Forum

Can't a mod just sandbox a corner of the site for Flud to moan to a bot whenever he feels the need?

    1000w ebike ???

There sure are easier ways to go faster.

    1000w ebike ???

Is that meant for a bike? Why on earth did he make it into a singe pack? Mine is about the same size, maybe a little larger, but split into four sub-packs. I spec'd it to be capable of a journey from Bath to London on a single charge at 15mph. In reality though, I'll be charging during lunch...

    1000w ebike ???

Immoral?!?! Who made you the pedelec Gestapo? Nothing wrong with a large battery last time I checked. Are we still sure that Flud isn't smartbiker?

    1000w ebike ???

I can't head out for a ride until Wednesday morning, when I plan to hoon about for the first time with a 2.7kWh pack. You probably wouldn't want to know the details though [emoji1]

    1000w ebike ???

The sky is falling! The sky is falling! Good lord folks! This forum is becoming unbearable from having the life sucked out of it. Change the record already.

    Help & Advice Please.

Totally feasible for 'regular' packs. Samsung 25R 18650 cells are good for 10C, so a 10Ah pack of these would be good for 100A discharge.

    Help & Advice Please.

Discharge rate is theoretically unlimited as you can just add more capacity to increase the maximum of a battery pack. Also, even the cheap Hobbyking 5Ah 20C LiPo packs are rated for 100A, although would likely sag lots.

    Help & Advice Please.

Yes, I do in the sense of our inflexible legal definitions, but we all know that in practice that a purpose built motorcycle and a bike frame with an electric drive are two completely different beasts to own and ride.

What nonsense reasoning! If you've got access to this private land, you'll want a REALLY high power electric bike [emoji1]

    Nyon software update April 2016

Oooh, I bet it'll annoy you even more that I don't even own one :D It's good to keep on top of what the market offers and I took the below to mean you have to pay for the added functionality, even though you'd likely already paid for the mapping data. Topographical residual range: The premium...

    Nyon software update April 2016

I've always thought that it sucks balls that you'd have to pay for a feature upgrade when you've already paid for the device in the first place. If I had to pay for new feature when updating my Cycle Analyst firmware, I wouldn't be best pleased.

    Avoiding canal or footpath conflict.

Do you ever get any comments in regards to your music? I've always quite fancied doing something similar, but people can be funny about noise pollution, especially in more rural locations.

    Bosch Battery parallel cable

How much?!?!?! I can get over 4kWh of LiPo for that..... or a new bike!

    Strange disc brake phenomenon

Strange reply? Not sure if my post was a little unclear, but I meant that I don't think the existing pads will improve. New ones are what I'll try next. I certainly won't be selling my bike or giving it to the charity shop and I've never had a bike shop fix any of my own bikes in my whole life!

    Strange disc brake phenomenon

Disappointing. Cleaning my pads & rotors made no difference to the braking performance. Admittedly, it was only a short journey of a couple of miles and may not have had bedded in again yet. I'll give them a little longer before I replace the pads, but I dont think they'll improve.

Failed on my first big hill

I can't believe that is the first time this has been pointed out in this thread. Yes, more active material (magnets and copper) gives more torque for a given current. A 250W rating is in no way reflective of the electromagnetic properties of any given motor.

    Fat Bike

The motor has to be 'rated' for no more than 250W, but can use as much power as you like as long as it does not propel you above 25kph as stated previously.

Failed on my first big hill

Flud, I'm pretty sure that my last post doesn't read as if I am criticising or attacking you in any way, yet your reply reads (to me at least) in an extremely defensive tone. I was only trying to put across the fact that qualified evidence from a verified source holds much more weight and will...

Failed on my first big hill

I think that linking to information, or at the very least including a source, might help when putting forward an argument. Anyone can write anything on the Internet, so random unqualified screenshots aren't going to do you any favours.
