KT Controller C5 and C14 query

I always set C14 to 3. The C14 setting only affects the scaling of power levels of PAS 1,2, 3 and 4. When C14 is set to 3, it brings up these levels. So, for example, with my LCD 3, when C14 is set to 2 (default), at PAS 4 level, I get something like 260W output and at PAS 5 get 425W, which...

60 or 80Nm front hub motor

MXUS Xf15 front (5:1 geared) at 65nm available . Full kit about £164 from pswpower delivered to UK. Will it fit your forks? I have the rear version and it runs very cool on hills.

Help! New Swytch Max kit that loses most of its power after 15km on a normal ride

The wind slows down a bike and it takes a lot of energy (i.e. battery power) to cycle against it. As a rule of thumb, I estimate my range to be only about 80% of normal on a circular/return journey on a windy day but this loss of range could be a lot more on a one way journey facing into the wind.

    Bosch cx vs Bosch sx.

I'm going on towards 70 and my legs are no way as strong as they were. Having experimented and swapped different bikes, I have totally ruled out anything with a torque sensor because they do require some input from the rider. (I reckon my comfortable sustainable input is only about 30-40W) I...

    Bosch cx vs Bosch sx.

So in the example above, the figure of 108 when driving thru the 34 front and 51 rear delivers 162nm of torque at the wheel? That is impressive. Or is it limited in some way by the controller. (I am trying to make sense of the figures).

    Bosch cx vs Bosch sx.

Re the bike above (Rocky Mountain fusion at £2000), I am presuming when torque is quoted, this refers to torque at the back wheel. If this is the case above, the 108nm comes from a 34t front chain ring and a 51t rear cassette, so this gives a maximum motor torque figure at the chain ring of 108...

Controller (VESC) problems after reversing battery polarity

I wonder is your motor similar to Grin's where the white wire is used for both the speed and temperature sensor?

Do hub flange adapters to fit rims with a different numbers of holes exist?

The rims look well and are like the newer deeper rims fitted to some of the more recent hub motor kits . You may need shorter spokes but using the existing spokes and adding one more cross to the spoke pattern can use up 5 to 7mm and this sometimes works.

    Rear wheel rim problem

I have experienced rim failure on a number of occasions. In all cases, I got a warning when braking from the brake lever pulsing due to the rim bulging outwards in one spot. In all cases, I just let some air out and the rim got me home. The place where the rim is joined, usually 180 degrees...

    Pendleton Somerby pre 2019

Cheaper (£106 +7 delivery) for 10.4 AH below if it fits. I would prefer to buy from a known supplier than an unknown e bay supplier. https://www.pswpower.com/products/no-tax-36v-10ah-haitian-electric-bike-battery-pack-bicycle-lithium-18a-bms-output-500w-157

    Pendleton Somerby pre 2019

My daughter had similar black pendleton bike bought in black friday sale 2017 for 600 euro. Getting a throttle to work could be difficult with your existing setup. There is the possibility of some kind of dongle/gadget available that can convert the throttle signal into pas pulses I think. Some...

KT Current Control versus Luishi Speed Control

Wire the throttle with two light gauge tin coated solid wire straight into the female throttle connector and lightly taped in so it can be instantly pulled out with one hand in an emergency. Blank of the negative with something to avoid any mishaps when wiring/rewiring.

KT Current Control versus Luishi Speed Control

I tried the push button switch throttle yesterday with a Kt controller and it works well but I needed to put a silicon diode in series to get it to work as was getting an '01 info' error when pushing the button without it.

    More Seizures

Seizures in Ireland too. The comment on throttles below is interesting. Although they are not specifically banned (once the motor cuts off when you stop pedaling), they do seem to draw unwanted attention, even from other bike users. I think I will look into some type of stealthy push button...

KT Controller – still drawing power above cut-off speed?

I have seen discussions suggesting that by running the motor as above, the clutch will have a sort of gentle engagement so when the power ramps back up it will prevent a 'clunk'. I would like to know more. The only discussion I can readily find is below but refers to mid drives)...

KT Controller – still drawing power above cut-off speed?

Beautiful morning here so I brought the bike for a 54Km spin. The bike has a rear Yosepower 350W motor (2018) with its original 36v controller and LCD3. I set the speed restriction to 25 Km/hr. One section of the ride consisted of a 7Km steady descent. On this descent at about 30Km/hr, while...

KT Controller – still drawing power above cut-off speed?

I suspect that this may be done intentionally in some circumstances so you get a faster and smoother take up of power (and possibly save the clutch) when (for example) starting to climb a hill after descending. The reason I think this may be the case is that the Pendleton Somerby had a well...

PSWPOWER - DO NOT USE THEM

My battery arrived today (to Ireland) well boxed and sealed along with its charger, connector and plate, a spare fuse and a set of keys that turn on the battery. Its storage voltage read at 49.5v. I done a full charge and discharge into a load and all looks very well.
