    Fast Legal Bike

People pop to the paper shop in the car all the time. May only be a mile or two. Ask them why and the response is usually, its quicker to use the car.

    Fast Legal Bike

Point 1, CBT and driving test could be applicable to both routes. The Netherlands is not a typical example as they already had a cycling population prior to the introduction of any form of pedelec. Happy to potter along all day. The UK as you rightly say are not a cycling nation. We never will...

    Fast Legal Bike

What is the difference between someone taking an S Class, turning into a moped and registering it or someone just registering it and using it. I would suggest no difference. I understand your explanation but do feel that the UK stance on S Pedelecs is severely hampering growth of the pedelec /...

    Fast Legal Bike

There is a catch 22. You cannot take a 350w pedelec off the shelf, perfectly safe and un modified from the manufactures specifications and register it. As we have seen from the photo of the registered version one has to turn it into a cumbersome heavy moped. Defeats the whole point don't you...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Until September? Have you gone soft? Look forward to a trip out soon.

    Fast Legal Bike

I fail t I fail to see how one can be done for riding an unregistered vehicle when it is impossible to register that vehicle in the first place. If you could register, insure and tax in and then rode without bothering, then fair cop. Someone seems to have created a catch 22 for those who wish...

How many people are using there e-bike off-road?

Eddie, in complete contrast I spent Friday gone as high as could get in the peak district. Snow and more snow everywhere. Just caught it as its now melting away. Just exploring and blasting around, brilliant fun and fabulous views. Hardly any mud to be seen. You asked about the Satmap, done the...

    Fast Legal Bike

KTM, I said I'd take a dongle over one of the type advertised. I did not say that I was using a dongle. I said, I'd take a dongle over a home made moped any day. My point is that this guy has been forced to go to great lengths to get a faster legal bike. He has had to convert it into a moped. I...

    Fast Legal Bike

Th The guys bolted it together fine but to comply he has been forced to turn a cycle into a moped. With the exception if a petrol driven engine. I guess as an electic moped its ok but as a legal electric cycle it is not. Rolling resistance and unsprung weight have been increased as has the...

    Fast Legal Bike

It goes to show what sort of piece of shtt you would end up with if you took the legal route. An interesting experiment but somewhat of a death trap. Just look at those tyres. The amount of extra crpp that has had to be bolted on will make the thing very weighty and far too top heavy. I bet...

    Cyclelife Electric Brighton & Hove

Eddie I called into the shop today for nothing more than a chat and to check things out. Thanks to all the staff, very friendly and they even looked after my bike whilst I had a quick test ride on on of their new Haibikes. Not intending to upgrade just yet but the test was offered all the...

Do you think I need a new cassette?

I decided to run my Haibike until the chain jumped. Started jumping in top gear. Left if a bit too long and the 11 tooth sprocket snapped in half one day. Replacement cassette and chain soon sorted it. I think 2500 miles was the mileage for the cassette at the time.

Kalkoff s10 life out of a chain

I'd suggest that you leave the chain on until it starts jumping. My guess is that it will be many 1000's of miles.

    Haibike Bosch or Yamaha

I'd have to ask if Yamaha prevent owners from purchasing motor unit spares in the same way that Bosch do. I wish to maintain my own bikes and I see no reason why that cannot include motor / crank bearings and gear wheels etc.

    Puncture repair?

You will most likely find that the tyres are of a tubeless version but tubes have been fitted. Remove and repair the tube or remove the tube, get a fit a tubeless valve and some sealant. Either way, you will need to remove the tyre initially.

A working dongle - at last

Yes, that would work. The magnet would need to be fixed to a frame mounted star wheel of some description. A 360 degree rotation of this star wheel would pass the magnet over the sensor. A small peg fixed to one of the spokes would knock the magent wheel round by say 90 degrees for each...

    bike cover on the street

Cwah I think you are having a laugh. How many of these do you see in a public area? None, and there is a good reason for that. Not being rude, I think you need to get real, do what a lot of people do including myself. Buy a decent cover that can be locked down and forget about it. Then get...

Another ride on the KTM lined up this coming weekend

It was not anywhere near as muddy as the dorset trip but still more than enough of it. Lots of slippery chalk patches too. I do have a Satmap that I thought about using but decided to rely on Eddie seeing the signs instead. As we now know, Eddie didn't spot the signs. Only jesting. A little...
