KT Brompton kits PAS configuration help please!

P3=1 So power based pas rather than speed based So unloaded motor will run at maximum speed irrespective of pas level (PAS levels affect the power not the unloaded speed)

    Brompton conversion

ETA So the kit including motor wheel, KT display , controller and pas (not including battery)is $235 + $70 shipping (china post) $300 = £240. Theoretically there is a custom charge but I don't think it is much and I've never heard anyone having to pay it

    Brompton conversion

Me and loads of people here have bought stuff from topbikekit over the years. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend them. I have that motor in a dahon clone in a 20" wheel and it is marked 250w. I would just email them and ask any questions. Never had to pay any extra in customs charges

Help! Converting folder bike to cassette

I do have 2 other full size non foldable e-bikes, one for road/trails and one mountain bike but I think the 20" wheeled folding e-bikes are fine for road / light trails and surprisingly capable. I can do many of the same routes and they will happily do 25-30 mile rides and still be comfortable...

Help! Converting folder bike to cassette

So tyres and wheels diameter 20.5 inch / 52 cm - think would struggle with conventional mudguards Width, I think 2.15 inch is about correct. Looks narrower in the photo but I think that is an illusion Gap between inside of forks = 6.5 cm / 2.5 inches

Help! Converting folder bike to cassette

My theory is having the battery weight over the front wheel helps traction. Yeah the 2.15 tyres fit fine, not sure if those mudguards are really wide enough though - we'll see ! The disc 9 is different rims size and much narrower forks so you can't go nearly as wide tyres. I have set tyre...

Advice re changing Brompton swytch for something more reliable using same motor wheel

Looks amazing, do you know is it a AKM-100 clone motor ? Are the rims "road bike size" ? How is the handling with the hub in the front wheel ? Do you notice any resistance above 25kph ? So, if the controller is max 15 amps, pas level 1 is 13% I think so output power from the controller is...

Sympathetic conversion ideas for Raleigh Clubman from the 80's

@Woosh have you got the Tongsheng 85TS kit in stock, would that be a possibility ?

Sympathetic conversion ideas for Raleigh Clubman from the 80's

Topbikekit do a 1.44 kg akm-75 front hub motor, 201 rpm (which is fine in a 700c wheel with 15.5 mph motor cut off) Very little resistance above that speed. Maybe combine with 36v 10Ah bag battery that attaches to saddle with room for controller eg Woosh (1.8kg) https://wooshbikes.co.uk/?batteries

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

I'm intrigued by the 2 speed gears. I'm thinking if you are not going to pedal above the legal cut off speed and you keep above 7-8 mph on hills (which is recommended for hub motors) then probably 2 speed is ideal (obviously not somewhere very hilly). I feel on electric bikes you don't use the...

Can I ask what other bikes you test rode and what you thought ?

Help! Converting folder bike to cassette

It's quite direct but doesn't feel twitchy. I have a Dahon clone that does feel a bit more twitchy (this bike if for my son and his girlfriend)

Help! Converting folder bike to cassette

So been out on a test ride seems good. Tried the suggested rotor spacer seems to work ok clearance wise. As suggested bolted a L shaped bracket to front mounting point through the battery bag and battery sits on that. Plenty of room in the bag for 36v 15ah Samsung 21700 celled battery , KT 15...

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

In terms of hub driven folding bikes, there's forum members that have been pleased with https://uk.fiido.com/products/fiido-d11-folding-electric-bike-for-commuter https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/fiido-d11-folding-e-bike-a-sort-of-review.41326/

Ah is that the correct one ? https://www.yosepower.co.uk/products/24v10-4ah-lithium-ion-rear-e-bike-battery-pack-without-original-battery-shell I thought it was the other one (with the red cross)

    Hi from Fleet, Hampshire

Looks nice - I'm building one along the same lines , 20*2.15 puncture resistant multi surface, all season tyres with hydraulic disc brakes. I think being to fold it up and take it with you into work is a real advantage. Dead easy to stick in the boot, drive somewhere, have a ride around...

    Battery Fires

So you are really saying it is credible that in 2023 there were 176 e-bike/scooter fires in London (pop 9 million) and 23 in the rest of the UK (68 million - 9 million = 59 million) ?

    Battery Fires

"Show me the bodies" was the argument used by the civil servant that pushed back against the numerous calls for tighter regulation around external cladding and insulation prior to Grenfell.

    Battery Fires

It's hard to reconcile those figures with the OPSS analysis https://www.gov.uk/government/publications/fires-in-e-bikes-and-e-scooters/07948b8a-2855-4fd3-b205-b9b2f03b6a7c Especially since 176 out of the 199 fires reported to the OPSS were reported by LFB, which says to me other Fire...
