Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

Yes, downhill massively, you can brake and lock up the back wheel and it won't slow you down that much

Anyone ever tried to implement regenerative braking?

I watched some of that Video - seems a neat engineering solution. I very rarely use my brakes though coming down hill - just speed up and use the momentum for the next bit ! Wouldn't you need to put the hub motor on the front wheel though - that's where all the braking happens ? If so, there...

DFT consultation on increase of 250W limit to 500W

Yes - the figure they are quoting (without realising) is the no load speed based on how fast the rear wheel spins if you lift it and then look at the "speed" on the display.

How much battery sag is too much for a 3 year old battery?

What's the capacity of your battery ? On very hilly rides, I get that sort of sag (I have a 48v 20Ah battery). I do try and plan my rides to do the steepest hills on the way out ! I don't think your battery is on its way out, but it might be too small now you are using the motor to it's...

Looking to buy my first ebike, overwhelmed! Any advice?

Without the full throttle option, when you twist the twist grip , you get maximum pedal assist, which is a very useful feature.

Looking to buy my first ebike, overwhelmed! Any advice?

My wife has a Wisper 705, it is brill. Great up hills. Would recommend one of the bigger batteries, maybe avoid the torque sensor if you have mobility issues Noticed it was on sale here https://winstanleysbikes.co.uk/wisper-705-26-inch-2022-electric-folding-bike Also worth speaking to @Wisper...

Would fast charging make much difference?

I've got a BBS02 with 48V 20Ah battery - it came with a 4A charger. I wonder how much it varies by motor. In theory the torque sensored motors would detect when you are not pedalling as hard and not add as much assistance but I'm not sure it really makes that much difference. I wonder if you...

    Physics of Bicycles

I found this quite interesting They compared a £10,000 6kg orbea "superbike" Vs a Halfords £450 10.3kg bike (Boardman) over a 16km circuit. They then changed the tyres on the Boardman and added aero bars (cost £200) and tested it again I found it interesting how little difference there...

    Converting a little folder

Yes, I'm not allowed any more e-bikes but I was allowed to convert my wife's folder otherwise I would have started off with a bike with disc brakes. This is purely a campervan bike to use on our holidays. I was rather surprised how fast it is unpowered, I had assumed it would be massively...

    Folder recommendations

Doesn't meet the OPs requirements but I wondered about this as a donor folding bike for a front hub conversion. Aluminium with steel forks. You'd probably want to upgrade the disc brakes to hydraulic and change the rear sprocket to 11-28 or 11-32...

Land Rover MB to electric conversion

Yes, you don't need to touch the wheels . A mid motor conversion, but you will end up with 8 gears rather than 24 (which is quite enough for an ebike). eta You can buy a hub motor and build a wheel yourself (possibly using the existing rim ?) but you would need new spokes. Search TSDZ8 Eg...

    Carrera Vengeance Conversion

The main reason for choosing Woosh to me is the level of customer service, they'll advise on suitable kits, give advice if you get stuck and have very clear instructions and then ongoing support

    Carrera Vengeance Conversion

Looks like a good donor bike ! From what you are saying, I don't think you need front suspension forks - maybe get a suspenion seat post. If they are mechanical disc brakes at the minute then convert them to hydraulic - dead easy and cheap to do The chainstays don't look to flared so should...

    Converting a little folder

Ok - before conversion ! I might try the same circuit with @saneagle 's 11-28 freewheel (can I average 14 mph ? !) and then again after I've converted it with the microhub (1.5kg akm75) and Woosh bag battery (1.8kg)

    Carrera Vengeance Conversion

And the one @saneagle linked to is considerably better spec - bigger battery, more powerful motor and hydraulic brakes

https://www.pedelecs.co.uk/forum/threads/voodoo-aizan-29er-with-8fun.40599/post-607415 Yes - it looks like it might need some massaging ! Any other suggestions for the OP of nearly new bikes where the TSDZ8 fits ?
