    Bike for heavy user

No I don't have a more up to date one but it is clear even from some of your other posts that you were very aware that was out of date. BBSHD is not marketed anywhere as a 250W motor as well you know. As far as insults not contributing to the thread neither does misinformation especially from a...

    Bike for heavy user

Here we go again Woosh talking absolute crap! That graph is at least 2 years out of date, Yamaha recognised the problem of low cadence years ago! A BBSHD is not legal!

Giant bikes. Opinions on these two?

I said likely illegal, i.e. rated higher than 250w like a bbs02 or hd. I certainly don't disagree with the rest of your last post baring the dubious maths, of course most people even the lighter ones would prefer the extra power. I doubt there is that is legal that performs significantly better...

Giant bikes. Opinions on these two?

Woosh talking crap again, contradicting himself constantly. Bosch CX has 75Nm of torque, GiantSyncDrive Pro aka Yamaha 80Nm. Anything more than the CX / Yamaha is likely illegal, the Bafang quoted certainly is! This forum has deteriorated into a constant Woosh opinion / sales pitch.

    2018 ORBEA GAIN

Connecting in parallel is fine as long as the voltage is the same at the time of connection. It makes no difference what the discharge characteristics are as once they are parallel the voltage has no option other than to remain the same. I have been using an extender battery on my Yamaha Haibike...

    Waterproofing

Bosch wouldn't need to use it, their motor is more likely to be spinning at a realistic speed. Air is a very good heat insulator, most home insulation products work by trapping air in a confined space so you will never achieve equilibtium, the windings will always be significantly hotter than...

    Waterproofing

There may be plenty of air flow around the motor but there is none around the windings which is why Statorade etc was developed. You need to shift the heat from the windings to the outside air to keep the motor cool.

    Waterproofing

I bet I could melt the gears without any problems. Which motor type should I use on ebike.ca to model the XF08C, AN XF07 only shows an efficiency of 64% with a 17a controller at 10% gradient with a 100kg load. That means 36% going to heat (150W), I'm sure a hub motor can't dissipate that much...

    Who's bought a Gtech ebike?

Please define steep climbs, had a quick look on Google maps and Strava and it looks pretty flat to me around Milnathort.

    Lab power supply as charger

The whole parallel group goes low together. No need for a smart BMS just make sure you charge fully occasionally.

How Best to Tackle Hills on a Longer Ride?

So now we have gone down two gears and we are starting to make significant heat, your 800W in is now probably less than 600 out and slowing down. This is getting you further away from your optimum rpm than your original scenario making more heat instead of propelling the bike. At what point...

How Best to Tackle Hills on a Longer Ride?

The OP is 20 stone so 217kg plus bike so maybe around 240kg. 8% is an incline not a hill;)

    Lab power supply as charger

The balance wires do come as you say from all of the serial branches but most of them are just for measurement not to actually power the 'brains' of the BMS. The power for the brains normally only comes from one set of cells not the whole 36/48v pack.

    Lab power supply as charger

Surely if you don't charge it fully the battery will go out of balance as the bms will never. The group of cells that power the bms will always be lower than the rest and over time will drift so far that you are over charging the rest.

    Wind Turbines

First quarter was 29% of UK generation. Yes its low at the moment but no where near as bad as you are claiming over an extended period. Keep burning fossil fuel and choking on the emissions. I wonder how many people who are forced to ride ebikes wouldn't have to without all of the emissions from...

    Yamaha PW SERIES motor

The time I had the same sort of thing it was a hired battery that was the problem, again no errors. Shouldn't really be your problem to sort out if you were knocked off your bike, surely it's down to his insurers to sort it out. Cycle Republic and Naitionwide ebikes are both Haibike dealers in...

    Yamaha PW SERIES motor

Any error messages / numbers? These may take some time to appear after starting. Only time I have come across this without an error code personally it was actually the battery that was at fault.

20 mile commute on an Electric Mountain Bike...

I guess it depends what you are recording on. For me on Android I have to open the activity, go to edit activity and select the drop down arrow next to ride. Ebike ride is at the bottom of the list.
