Yes, front brake is always the more efficient, when you brake more weight goes onto the front wheel so it has more traction. Its the same reason a lot of cars have front discs and rear drums or at least bigger discs on the front.

I'm in the Alps, 10% average over 10km is one of my local hills (with a down in the middle). Most of my rides are somewhere between 1 and 2 thousand meters of climbing with occasional outings over 3000. We are allowed 600W motors here.

Just had a quick look on the local Intersport website, every mountain bike has a front mech. Very few people ride here with 1X setups, only the very lightest and fittest.

Of course it depends on your target market, I wish I had spent a bit more on a better fork (maybe my next upgrade ) nearly every time I go out on mine I'm using most if not all of the travel. Brakes also need a lot of consideration when you have an extra 12 - 15kg of bike to stop.

I've only borrowed it, I really live in the grim mining area in the North East of England. While it lasts (we will have to see what Brexit brings) living here for the biking in the summer and skiing in the winter suits us perfectly. We go back to the U.K. for spring and autumn.

Make sure the batteries are isolated from each other before charging. Other than that as you say make sure the voltages are reasonably close. Mine are both close enough straight off their dIfferent chargers.

Our valley is not called Wildchönau (wild and beautiful valley is the translation) for nothing. All taken in the last couple of days. No wonder people want to ride E-bikes here!

Certainly in the mountains where I am that is the case. The Inn valley is flat, the cycleway follows the river Inn all the way from Switzerland through Austria until it joins the Danube. The section through the Tirol is 230km of mainly purpose built traffic free track! Loads of mainly German...

E-bike hire is a massive thing in Austria. Last year we had a new hire place open in the valley. They started with about 10 mainly Haibikes, this year they have about another 15 new ones. The hire place in the village where I am will not be replacing his mountain bike bike fleet, all new bikes...
