New to this E MTB lark

My bike is derestrictedbut that makes no difference when climbing at 10 - 15 kmh. It is voltage sag, it is hot, the battery is low and everything becomes inefficient. With a 500wh battery it is a lot less noticable.

New to this E MTB lark

I suspect my normal terrain may be a little more extreme than yours. My last km is up an average of over 10% with sections up to 20%, on the 2016 400wh battery the last 10% is torture. I have a friend who is a mechanic at the local bike shop, he commutes 25km to and from work every day on a...

New to this E MTB lark

I have a Haibike hardseven too. It is a blast, however I feel it is far too heavy for what it is. The fork is nowhere near as good as my 10 year old Boardman MTB (although that does have a particularly fine XC 100mm fork) brakes are fine, gears are fine. I live in the Alps most of the year and...

Most powerful eBike for long uphill journeys?

Well done Eddie. Proper climbing does require low gearing. I have a ride planned next week with over 2700m climbing, not all in one go though as it's not really possible without a drive first for me. I have arranged a hire of a second battery from a local bike hire place that has a load of...

    Buying my first e-bike

Lots of mature women riding local to me on Bosch crank drive step through bikes. No idea what make they all are but there do seem to be lots of them.

Round the inside of some of the hairpins could well be approaching 90 or even 100%, probably not the best choice of line though.

That's climbing, not theorising ;). Enjoy the holiday, how long are you there? This was my last one. https://www.strava.com/activities/1066729942

Upping by budget for an ebike. But which one?

Put the magnet on the pedal spindle and move the rear wheel sensor to suit. Yes the speedo doesn't work but who cares, use a free app on your phone or buy a wired cycle computer if it maters.

    Cycling Undercrackers

There is no such thing as cycling undercrackers. Commando is the only way.

    Lightweight Trekking Bike Build

How many spokes, 32 or 36? Looking forward to this as I have a few ideas of my own.

    Home built or factory finish...

If I could still average 20mph I wouldn't even contemplate an ebike!

    Best Yamaha dongle

Just fit the free one and use an app on your phone for speed etc

    Bosch Motor Derestriction

It's fine on my 2016 Yamaha. Can't see why I would need to spend money on a dongle when I use my phone to log everything from heart rate to speed anyway, just put it on the bars wherevyou can see it.

Most powerful eBike for long uphill journeys?

Oi I've already told you I'll test this in the Alps for you. I'm here all summer and would be very open to carrying out some back to back testing whether it be in private or public màkes no difference to me. I'm really interested in whether a hub motor can cut it compared with my Yamaha when...

Most powerful eBike for long uphill journeys?

Doesn't make sense to me, if you are maxing the power on the meter then how is it helping you get home? Surely (and I do have a lot of experience of this) you change to a lower gear and a lower assist level to keep the power meter down to increase range. I know that in my experience if you try...

    France on a Woosh

Wearing brakes out is the biggest problem, I would love to solve this problem to enable my wife to get out more. Just reducing the acceleration when pointing downhill would allow her to get out a lot more around here. Never cycled in that area Eddie but have had a few ski trips there, the first...

    Small Battery Bargain.....?

Bought one of these recently (new in box)and on first charge it got so hot it deformed the casing and wouldn't hold charge. Guess the cells had drained too low and didn't respond well to being woken up. Fortunately got a refund from the seller.
