    Volt Pulse controller change out

Volt controller probably uses current control that would suit your style of riding. Most cheap controllers and definitely some Bafang ones use speed control, which I doubt you'll like, so don't use a Bafang one unless you know it to be a current control one, and I doubt that anybody will be able...

    Enviolo [Nuvinci] gear hubs.

It depends which version you use and which motor you have. I tried N360 on a GNG crank motor, which ran at 36v and 22A. Under hight torque it did slip a few times. Generally, shifting was hard under load, which eventually caused me a broken shift cable. I didn't notice much loss of efficiency...

    Latest Project Finished -Nearly

Yes, I had to get the old BB off to put the new pedal sensor on. I replaced the BB with a modern cartridge type. I had one in my stock of parts. I noticed that Topbikekit have them for about a fiver, so I bought a couple more to replenish my stock. Incidentally, I went out for a longer ride on...

    Latest Project Finished -Nearly

Good question with a simple answer. It had the old type of BB with nasty things sticking out. https://www.bikeride.com/images/bike/bottom-bracket-400x280.jpg There is some discussion and advice about these BBs here, but mine had the added complication that the pedal sensor was flush with the...

    Help! Error code 8

If the wheel rotates when you operate the walk assist, there is nothing wrong with the controller, motor or battery. That leaves settings in the LCD, or connection issues (PAS and throttle) - possibly wrong connectors (swapped over). The photo shows a connector with brown, yellow and black...

    Latest Project Finished -Nearly

I bought this folding bike from a catalogue returns outlet a few months ago, thanks to Guerney pointing it out. I got this one and the Argos £245 one for £200 the pair. This one is 24v and was sold with a known faulty battery. First I repaired the battery - sort of. It was clear that it had...

    Help! Error code 8

Did the SW900 come with the controller. If it didn't, it's probably not compatible. With most controllers, as a temporary measure, you should be able to run without any LCD. You bridge the red and the blue wires, which should give you normal throttle operation and level 1 power assist.

    Hitway BK11

If you have a meter, you can find which pin on the bike's connector is ground and which one is 5v by testing continuity. By logic, the third is the signal wire. You can't test the throttle's connector without dismantling the throttle. The sequence is almost certainly wrong, so I'd cut the...

    Hitway BK11

Assuming that you have an S866 LCD (you didn't tell us), error code E07 is motor error. E08 is throttle error. E07 can be hall sensor error, which would have one of two possible causes: 1. Signal interupted, either because motor connector isn't in far enough or the cable is damaged. 2...

New controller with display for Fano-Tex FT-7009E with Bafang 36V front wheel motor?

There are many choices when you want to replace a controller. A basic one that's similar to what you already have is about £20. One with an LCD and 5 levels of assist is about £40. A very nice one that gives a nice ride, allows you to choose the power you want and makes your motor smooth and...

    Hitway BK11

It's connector is probably wired in the wrong sequence. You'd have to dismantle the throttle and test continuity to the connector to confirm. Alternatively, cut off both connectors and join the wires in the right sequence. The colours should indicate the sequence.

250w Ebike Kit with KT Controller

I always use LCD4 now with a throttle to over-ride the pedal assist setting. The buttons on the LCD4 are difficult to use, but I hardly ever use them. The LCD is set to start on level 2, which is my normal cruise power. Whenever I need more power, I use the throttle to get level 5. You can...

    Old Giant struggles with hill.

Yes. The best way is to use a 5K or 10K preset to divide the voltage down to about 4v, then put the switch on the red wire. The switch should be a normally off type push to make type, like a horn button.

New controller with display for Fano-Tex FT-7009E with Bafang 36V front wheel motor?

Are you OK with soldering and wiring? Do you have the tools to get the cranks and bottom bracket off?

Fox poo mudguard mishap! - Mudguard safety concerns...

As long as you have mudguards, a stick can jam the wheel. There is no 100% solution. I've had sticks caught up a few times, but it was only once in 14 years that the wheel jammed and sent me over the bars. That mudguard was the un-stayed type.

    KT LCD5 C and P Settings

All throttles work the same with three wires. You just have to connect the wires in the right sequence, so sometimes you have to mess about with pins and connectors. Avoid any throttle that has lights, keys, screens or anything like that. Plain ordinary thumb throttle is the best.

You should get a throttle if you can. It's very useful. I use mine many times every time I ride my bike

New controller with display for Fano-Tex FT-7009E with Bafang 36V front wheel motor?

That's right. Both the controller and LED display are powered by the same battery, but they work independently. They are able to talk to each other through the yellow and green wires if you have the UART version of the 880 or through just the green wire if you have the analogue version. In the...

Meroca dropper seatpost - any good? Oh, and someone's nicked me bike!

Because I don't have a dropper seat post and both my shorts and jeans get caught on the saddle when I try to get my leg over, I have adopted the procedure of tilting over my bikes to an angle of about 45 deg while stationary. That makes the seat a lot lower and easier to get the leg over...
