    Help! TranzX BL15 Battery

The Royal Mail and some other couriers class lithium batteries as dangerous goods and they won't touch them. They don't open the box to see what's inside, and generally don't x-ray them. I know people, who sent batteries as bicycle spares and descriptions like that; however, if the battery got...

    Yamaha PW-ST Motor Jerky

If I were you, I'd send it in and ask them to do a full repair and bearing replacement. It'll probably cost around £400, but you'll get back a motor that's as good as new if not better. When you have these sort of motors, you have to expect to have to do repairs like that. Yours has probably had...

New owner of a whisper wayfarer step through

Before anything, lift each wheel off the ground and spin it by hand to check that they both spin freely. Your bike's motor controller uses speed control, so each level on the LCD gives the same power up to a different speed. Let's say that level 1 has a speed limit of 8 mph and level 2 has 10...

    Exciting New Project

I tried to buy that battery, but it wouldn't let me order. It said that it doesn't ship to UK from Germany. Their ordering system is very quirky. Sometimes I can order and sometimes I can't.

    Exciting New Project

You guys are very sharp. It was £120. I'll fit the I will remove the inner chain ring to simplify the arrangement. there won't be a front derailleur, but at least I would have the option to hook the chain onto the inermediate ring if ever my battery went flat. I'll line it all up first and see...

    Battery Fires

Most of what you guys say is true, but there's always the chance that a battery had a wire out of place or something like that when it was manufactured. When you look inside a lot of batteries, you can see the difference. Some are very well organised and tidy, others are all over the place...

    Help! TranzX BL15 Battery

It's going to be a real problem to send it. Most couriers won't touch them, and those that do require special labelling.

    More Seizures

You can change its mode of operation with P09 and P10. 7 or 8 years ago, it was quite common that when you bought an ebike online, the throttle was provided in a box so that you could choose whether to fit it or not.

They've just copied me. It was about 6 years ago that I showed how to do that with any bike.

    More Seizures

Don't forget that some "throttles" can be set to only allow 6km/hr, and some can be set to only give power when pedalling. That includes the one fitted to the Samebike 20LVXD, which looks like what she had. The 750w ones all have fat tyres. Either the police made a massive mistake or her bike...

DVSA Twist throttle E Bike / Step Through / Minimal internal gears / Belt Drive / Storage racks

When looking for an ebike, be careful not to over-specify. They all work, they all go 15.5 mph with the motor, and the cheapest and simplest are often the most reliable. As a general rule, you should avoid any bike that has special features, especially unusual batteries, because those things...

    More Seizures

Firstly, there is no speed limit for any bike. I regularly go over 40 mph on mine down steep hills. The limit only applies to the motor, which must cut-off above 25 km/hr, and there's a +10% tolerance on that for measuring accuracy, so non-compliance can only be judged at 27.5 km/hr. Secondly...

There's no real heat in there, so should be OK. I think those LCDs come apart if you heat them up a bit to melt the glue, like you do with most phones these days.
