    Nice try, but no cigar

Sorry, but to me, any advert that needs to be heavy on fluffy, light weight concepts rather than solid facts, suggests that either it was written by an idiot or the product is somewhat doubtful and a desperate attempt is being made to talk it up and snare the gullible and naïve. 'Graphic...

    "Cheating"

Out of interest, how does the petrol bike compare with electric bikes? Particularly on hills.

    Waterproofing

Last autumn I was on holiday in Belgium and it rained heavily for 12 out of the 14 days with high winds at times. Because I was in my campervan, I had no option but to leave my Tonaro out in the rain. I could not leave the cover on because it caused the bike to blow over in the wind. I used to...

    Whistling

Is it just my imagination, or did people used to whistle a lot more when they worked 50 years ago? (Apologies to the kids!!)

    Ebike - long range

Basically, this bike is any 36 volt, 10AH bike with 4 batteries. Going on my throttle only tests of last year when I got 17 miles out of my Tonaro without any pedalling, I would guess that 68 miles would be obtained with 4 batteries. Double or more if you pedal.

    posi tap

Will they carry the current? I have used scotch locks on 12 volt lighting circuits with success.

How long should my ebike chain last?

I have often wondered whether to try and reduce my thin 8 speed to an old fashioned 4 speed derailleur. Back in the 1950's, people didn't change their chains ever.

Ezee Sprint compared to Tonaro Esprit 2

Surely, reliability is a matter of engineering. After all, a car has far more moving parts.

Ezee Sprint compared to Tonaro Esprit 2

Thanks for your evaluation. I have a Tonaro Enduro and a 20 inch wheeled Woosh Gale. The Tonaro is my bench mark re hills etc., but I have been surprised by how well the Woosh climbs. I suspect that the reason is that the Tonaro motor is now dated compared with the Woosh one. Which leads me to...

Valued at 15,000 Euros no doubt!

"It's not rubbish, it's ART, dearie..."

If it was just old newspapers, why will it cost 10,000 euros to repair? Pretentious rubbish.

    Mercedes Benz Hybrid Bike (HELP)

Firstly, make sure that it is not something daft like having to push the key in when turning to unlock the battery. Many require such an action. Make sure that the key is straight, do you have a spare one? If all else fails there is a way of opening the lock, but I am not going to put it all...

What else for an e-quantum leap?

A quantum leap is an extremely small movement, perhaps the smallest known to mankind!

    Bafang spokes breaking

Is this the real trouble then? Spokes unevenly tensioned. Would just evening up the tensions work?

    Bafang spokes breaking

Er, yes they do, my Tonaro crank driver broke a rear spoke.

78 Year Old Cyclist Dies in Edinburgh

Today, I have driven from Holyhead to Swansea, right down the length of Wales. Mostly the roads are single carriageway, no wider than urban streets. Many are bounded by stone walls and have no 'escape' room at all. I saw about 15 cyclists during my journey. Because most traffic is doing 60 mph...
