    X-ray ?

Definitely an Alien, I think it's a Zarcon from Rygel 7. He's stealing the electrons to re-form his Dilithium crystals, so he can beam back to E-World! Who can you get in touch with fer crissakes!

    Bar End Mirror

Thanks everyone. Mirrycycle thingy ordered, fingers crossed. Looks like there might be some E-Cycling weather this weekend! Yippee! I always wear protective glasses, a thrash round the chops with a stray bramble can be very nasty!

    Unlimited Budget?

Money no object, simples! I would have two bikes. I don't think any one bike can fit the bill. For road use I'd be very happy with my Eagle but with a 30 Ah battery for 100 mile range so I can ride all day on max assist. For off road I would have either the Haibike, or perhaps a BH Emotion...

    Bar End Mirror

I think the Myrrhcycle was a gift from the 3 wise e-bikers. The other two were the frankincense derailleur and the Gold brake pads! Thank you all very much for the suggestions. Excellent advice as always. Looks like its a Cat-Eye 500 or the Myrrhcycle device.

    Bar End Mirror

Thank you Flecc, Had a quick gander, they all seem to be for 18mm to 20mm bars. I don't know how standard my bars are, but the internal is only 14 mm as they are quite thick walled. Do you reckon the Cat Eye 500 would fit? I can't find any firm fitting sizes on the blurb.

    Bar End Mirror

Can anybody recommend a decent bar end rear view mirror. My internal tube diameter is 14mm. Unfortunately, I purchased a cheap one at Halfords, it didn't fit, so I spent an hour modifying it only to have the entire clamp mechanism disintegrate when I tried to clamp it up. Accordingly, the...

Keeping the wind off your feet

I can't help thinking a more all encompassing technology is needed to best meet your objectives. Perhaps you could obtain a Zorb Ball. One of those clear plastic balls that folk get in and roll down hills, shouting loudly. You could modify it by making a slit in the bottom and sanding down...

    Long time no see

Hello Old Timer, Glad to see you're still having fun. What is the "E-Bike mag" you refer to, I didn't know there was one. If its available, I would have to take it like a drug of addiction. I'll bet it's even got colour pictures of scantily clad E-Bikes! Ooooohhh!!

    Freego Eagle, my first E-Bike

In lowest pedelec assist mode, the assistance will cease at about 8.5 mph, it's a fairly smooth transition. In medium assist there is more power and torque and the bike will breeze along at about 12 mph with very light pedalling. On full power, in pedelec mode with just very light pedalling I...

    Freego Eagle, my first E-Bike

Hi HGBiker, The Freego is still going strong, its been through snow and slush, wind and rain, and a little sunshine as well. Its done close to 700 miles now, and nothing has fallen off. I did have it cut out once after hitting a nasty pothole, but I just switched it off and back on again...

White Van Man - too close for comfort

Many years ago, a work colleague who cycled through central London made a small device that would squirt Nitromors Paint stripper from a small plastic syringe thingy. He never did confirm whether it helped at all, but he said it made him feel better. Nasty, but an effective weapon against...

    Wisper Plug

On BBC1 last night, (Wednesday), there was an article on Midwife recruitment on "The One Show". The Midwife featured had a very smart looking Wisper, I think it was an Alpino. It was clearly shown several times, but unfortunately the Nursey woman never mentioned it. Nice plug for David...

    First trip of the year.

I've managed to get out for a ride about 12 times since Christmas. Only once in heavy snow. I don't mind the cold, but not so keen on heavy rain. I have a scheduled ride this evening to the place of eternal medicine, only 8 miles, but I reckon it will be Max Assist all the way! Heh!

What is the maximum price you would spend on an electric bike?

I have an E-Bike for non essential use, its just for fun. Its always difficult to put a realistic value on such toys because its hard to put a price on 'fun'. These days, I spend very little on my car, because it's a utilitarian requirement, necessary and boring, but I'm happy to spend a whole...

    Here comes the Snow

Went to the Pub Saturday night. 9.00pm, not a drop of snow and barely a wisp of sleet in the air. I didn't think it would come to much. Left the pub at 12.15, it was 4 inches deep and really tipping it down. My bike was almost invisible in a snow drift. Managed a fairly impressive wheel...

Keeping the wind off your feet

Apropos the aerodynamic perspectives, I think there is some mileage in fitting some small 'Turbulators' to the edges of the egg boxes. This will reduce the effective Reynolds Number of the airflow, increasing its effective viscosity and thickening the Boundary Layer, thus allowing fast cornering...

Keeping the wind off your feet

Aerodynamics is a rather esoteric subject. At a rudimentary level its pretty much common sense. Very simplisticly, at the speed ranges involved on a bicycle two factors will come to play a part. Shape or frontal area, and thus the volume of air displaced. The biggest factor will be drag which...

Knocked off my bike this morning- Write off?? Advice?? Fault??

That's rotten luck Pinbin. Farbeit for me to generalise, but in my experience a blonde in a large BMW X5 or the Huge Audi thing/Range Rover are the most likely murderers of cyclists. Glad you are OK. I would suggest that you contact her insurers direct and drive the process forwards. The same...

    100miles on

Great stuff. The next 100 miles could be even more fun. You may well now be forever smitten.

    What should I try?

Great news David. Can you sell them the 'not quite so fast' version so they wont be able to catch us.
