    Talk about a crazy world...

It just beggars belief. Where do these Goons get their ideas from??

    Overshoes.

After a fair bit of trial and error I have found these "Highland Walking" boots to fit the bill. Highland Waterproof Boot at Cotton Traders They are rubber wellington boots on the bottom half with a water resistant suede upper. I have tested them in extreme rain, (when the road is like a...

    Freego and Sheffield hills

Hi Sheffmax, You have bought the right bike, but it is only a 250 watt machine as standard and will not carry you up steep hills without significant pedalling power. You need to try and maintain at least 8 mph by pedalling on max assist level. Below this speed the motor is not able to provide...

Is my controller safe and secure?

Hmm, it certainly is unlikely to be satisfactory. Perhaps you could insert a block of foam rubbery stuff to prevent it all jumping about.

    Punctures

I seem to suffer quite a bit with punctures, mostly they are caused by thorns from hedge cutting activities, but also paper clips, nails and more. I've had about 12 or 13 punctures over around 2500 miles. I did experiment with slime filled tubes. I can't say they were any more resistant to...

    Beat this for distance....

I ebiked down to the bank this morning and got completely soaked on the way back. Two miles from home I got a puncture in the back wheel, (a broken paper clip fer crissakes!). I then got even more soaked changing the tube under a tree that kept dropping soggy leaves down my neck. Adventure...

    Wisper and Freego Join Forces

Hi David, In fact it was a very close run comparison. The Eagle got 5 metres further up the hill on the test day. However, in fairness, the Wisper battery guage was only showing 2 lights static whereas the Freego had all four lights on! So it was probably just down to the state of charge of the...

    Wisper and Freego Join Forces

Couldn't disagree more. The final two bikes I tried were Wisper and Freego, back to back on the same bit of road. I bought the Freego, and have been very glad I did. 2600 miles and it still gets me home from the pub without fail!!:)

    Best cycle pump.

I've used one of these for years. Pedal-Pedal | Crank Brother's Power Mini Bike Pump (Black ) | Works well, and very compact and light. I have even inflated a motorcycle tyre with it, although it did take a while. I just used it at the weekend for yet another puncture!

How do I know my battery/controller is 100% watertight?

It should be fine, unless you ride into the canal. I would guess that very heavy sustained rain might cause a problem, but I try to avoid downpours, but I have been caught a few times. It's England after all, it's gonna rain sooner or later!

    Suitable bike for new buyer

I stand corrected venerable D8veh, clearly your knowledge of the different types exceeds my own. I have only tried Bosch and Panasonic crank drives, and made the comparison to my own experiences of my hub drive, and certainly my Freego is easier on the knees. I'm not fully up to date with the...

    Suitable bike for new buyer

Hi pmkc. Yes, you can lose weight on an e-bike, even with a dodgy knee. I have a Freego Eagle 250 watt hub drive. I lost over 12 kilos and 6 inches off my waist in 18 months, without really trying hard at all. I was thoroughly enjoying myself and more less lost the weight by accident. I also...

    Grrrr

What a hilarious thread, I haven't had such a good laugh in ages. Hilarity aside, I do wish the little chap the very best of life, and as Royals go, I reckon Wills and his Mrs are well placed to make a valuable and constructive contribution to society, both here and abroad. Nonetheless, for my...

    Hi from Sussex

Welcome to the forum EddiePJ, we need more Ebikers in Sussex. I'm just off up the pub on mine. I live in Battle, perhaps we could have a meet up for an E-Blast. Glad you're having fun. ER

    Freego problems

Hi Mike, sorry I didn't spot this as the thread was well down the list. If you haven't sussed it already, the red wire goes on the right contact and the black to the left on the rearmost pins, oriented as you sit on the bike. The front pins are not connected on mine.

    Freego problems

Well well. It would seem that your bike is now operating properly. Perhaps, as you suggest, the battery needed 'waking up', and the recent bout of activity has done just that. In pedelec mode, once 15.5 mph is achieved, the power will slowly reduce as you pedal faster. Mine is still drawing...

    Freego problems

If its doing 15.5 then there can't be much wrong with the power, but I'll wager your controller is packing up, in just the same fashion mine did. From the details written on your controller it's exactly the same as mine was. When my intermittent fault started occurring, my bike would often do...
