    Black Friday Deal - Giant Road E+2 - £1549

An excellent price for this bike if it's what you are lookingf for: https://www.jejamescycles.com/giant-road-e-2-25kph-electric-bike-2017.html The Alfine Raleigh Strada Steps deal and this are standouts for me this weekend. Are there any other cracking deals around (not that I'm looking for...

    Lightweight ebike

At 12stone and no significant hills (where significant is > 12%) any of the bikes mentioned will do the job easily.

    Lightweight ebike

It might also help us if you let us know how heavy you are and which Bristol hills you need to get up. I found that a hub drive struggled to get me up St. Michael's Hill - but I am 16 stone+ - Crank drive had no problems. Most other hills in Bristol I've tried (Park Street, Whiteladies Road)...

    I need a bike shed!

No condensation at all in either of the two different designs of Asgard sheds I have had. The bikes are much better protected in an Asgard shed than in a normal single skin brick garage both in terms of humidity and security.

Halfords Carrera Crossfire e Battery cutting off...

Agree 100% - this is how I got my refund. And it is flipping dangerous when you are going up an 8% hill on a busy B road and have moved out to the right to turn into traffic when loaded up with panniers and the motor cuts out - happened to me several times.

Halfords Carrera Crossfire e Battery cutting off...

That is shocking. They know full well that there is an inherent design / manufacturing fault that causes these problems. I received a refund due to this without any questions. An electric bicycle that regualrly cuts out is simply not fit for purpose. I used to find it regularly cut out...

    Crank drive performance

Because if they did: 1) They can't lock you in to buying expensive proprietary batteries 2) They can't lock you in to buying expensive spare parts 3) They can't lock it down enough to prevent users from tweaking it, potentially opening them up to: a) excessive warranty claims b) legal action if...

    An Apology (of sorts) Carrera

There would be if they could be fixed. However at present that does not appear possible - either you live with the cutouts or you return it. Shame as it is a great bike when working with plenty of torque to get up the hills.

New Halfords Carrera Vengence E Bike £800

Agreed. The Crossfire-E and Greenway SF-06 cased batteries are different. The Greenway battery has has fewer pins connected than the Crossfire. On the Crossfire, the battery communicates with the controller. On the Greenway the battery does not communicate with the controller. The Crossfire...

Halfords Carrera Crossfire e Battery cutting off...

Unfortunately my Crossfire-e was not fit for purpose as regards commuting in Traffic around North Bristol. So I got a refund. My GF puts up with hers cutting out periodically. It makes no difference if it is the old or new style display by the way. Shame - as they are a great bike when they...

    I need a bike shed!

The asgard sheds are fantastic. Don't just limit yourself to the ones they describe as bike sheds - there may be an option there that fits your requirements under the guise of something like a fishing tackle shed or something. FWIW I currently have 3 "Tool Sheds" from Asgard that I use for...

    Battery concern

Is this a battery which goes into a deep sleep when not used for a period of time in order to protect itself? In such a case, it needs to go through a wake up routine before it will power the bike on regardless of what the voltage of the battery is. On some batteries I believe that connecting...

Freego Martin Sport - Bafang MAX Drive

My Greenway has the gearsensor with the Maxdrive motor. It used to be very effective - cutting the motor for every gear change (cutting it for too long if climbing up a hill!). After 700 miles it probably only cuts about 75% of the time - my assumption is that this is down to stretching of the...

    Halfords E-Bikes

At £960 less 10% British Cycling, the Crossfire-e is a strong proposition. I had one but returned it due to the cutout problems. My partner still has hers - it had the display replaced due to a fault - it seems fine now. It cuts out very occasionally but not enough to put her off. I enjoyed...

    Advice needed- Bafang BBS01B 250w

In theory the battery is suitable. However - Generic Cells, 6 months warranty? It's not one I would buy. Speak to Jimmy at Insat - he will build you a battery you can be confident in.

    Carrera Crossfire-E bike Hub drag

No issues in that respect with either mine or my partner's crossfire-e. I would check for binding brakes (although with hydraulic discs I think that is unlikely).

    For Sale : 2008 Wisper 905 Sport £100

Thanks David - I think it's worth taking a look and getting her to give it a try. At this price it would make a great bike for her to commute the 5 mile round trip to 6th Form - I think the battery should have enough welly in it to manage that.

    For Sale : 2008 Wisper 905 Sport £100

Does anybody know what the minimum rider height is for this bike? Although I don't need it, I think my 16 year old daughter could make use of it, but she is only 5 feet tall.

From the front view it looks like a Cube to me - which means a Bosch drive unit I think.

    Guardian Article

Well written article. Very similar to the commute I inrend to be doing when I move house in a couple of months (except he is starting from a point about 10 miles west of me). I'm not brave enough to think I will be doing it every day though - probably only once a week. Just in the process of...
