    Greenway Cross City

I thought I would start a review thread for the Greenway Cross City bike. The bike features a Bafang Maxdrive mid motor rated at 250 watts nominal and a 10.4Ah battery in an SF-06 casing. Trying to order from the Greenwaycycles website didn't get me very far. In the end I stepped up and...

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

I received my Greenway Cross today. Unboxed and started the setup. I can confirm: 1) Shimano CS-HG-200-9 9 Speed cassette 2) Shimano Altus BR-M355 Hydraulic Disc Brakes 3) Feels pretty good quality throughout 4) One cable from the motor which is perilously close to the rear wheel 5) Front...

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

Possibly - I made a "best offer" of £140 - he came back with a counter offer of £160 and then delisted within about 30 minutes :(

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

That can only be good news. Other suppliers should think about showing their hand, else Greenway will soak up all the orders from the early adopters in the UK!

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

Agree - 42:11 is what I am hoping for when the bike arrives - if not I will give 38:11 a try. My (non-assisted) road bike is 50:11 - I guess I only use that gear when going downhill!

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

Glad to hear 9 gears on the back - I didn't think it could possibly be 7 speed. 38T chainring is not good news though - cheap enough to change (like you, I probably have one in the garage) :)

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

What size chain ring did yours come with? Ebay listing suggests 44t? But I think yours was smaller? Likewise ebay says "7 Speed", but lists a 9 speed Cassette part number. How many gears have you got?

Here's another option within the EU. I don't know how much shipping would be, but there are a few different upgrade options that could make this interesting to some people: https://www.eljoybikes.com/eljoy-hifi Price is £1100 in basic form (+ an unspecified amount to get it to the UK).

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

I've given up on the WebSite now, but taken the plunge and ordered from Ebay instead - it may cost a few extra pounds but seems a "safer" option in terms of their current processes. I'm looking forward to giving this bike a try - i'm just hoping it doesn't turn me into a lunatic who goes around...

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

Thanks for the info. If the website doesn't work properly, you can't complete a purchase through it and it has a contact form that is not monitored then those options should be disabled. None of this actually puts me off the purchase - the fact that I know you have been to their premises gives...

    Bafang Max Drive bikes

To back up the point about the potential link between Price and Customer Service: I attempted to order from the GreenwayCycles website on Wednesday. I couldn't complete the order as: 1) No option to pay by paypal online (although the WebSite does imply you can pay by paypal). 2) In the...

    Error code 25 and 30

I'm assuming this is the bike that I bought for a project (the owner replaced it with a Haibike). I bought a new controller and display - the old controller was fried - it runs perfectly on the throttle (no more code 30). The brake sensor also works fine (motor cuts out when brake applied and...

    Internet Question

A powerline wifi adaptor set is the best option, as long as your mains wiring is in good shape and on a single circuit. It sends ethernet signals over your mains cabling. Something like this will do the job...

    Sondors Review

From their website: "*SONDORS Electric Bikes ordered from EUROPE tab are available for immediate shipping in Europe from our UK warehouse - actual delivery time contingent on address location." Which *should* mean no VAT / Import duty and minimal shipping costs. in which case the bike seems...

Choosing a bike for a tall guy (over 6')

And also bear in mind that buying locally is of no benefit at all if the local store simply boxes the bike up to send it off somewhere else for diagnosis. I'm talking about my experience with a "large chain retailer" here, not one of the specialists on the forum. I will be without my...

    Ebike vs Road bike

I have a broadly flat 8 mile commute. As an overweight 45 year old, my Hybrid ebike is marginally faster than my Aluminium framed Giant Defy. However, looking at back at Strava, as a slightly lighter 42 year old, my road bike was quicker.

Kudos Tornado - Project - recommend me a new controller?

Quick update on this. The bits arrived within about 10 days. Shipped from Hong Kong. No customs bill yet, but I am expecting one soon. All hooked up - had to move a few connectors around as wires didn't match up. Wiring diagram from BMS was not quite accurate - but I'm almost there now. The...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Having been in discussions with Halfords customer services, my Crossfire-e is going to be sent off to the "Manufacturers" for testing and fault finding. It has now cut out on me 9 times in two months. I'm going to be without it for "2-3 weeks" - no courtesy bike will be supplied. I will update...
