Yes - I had considered those - I suspect they may be a little stronger than the Bafang ones. I will see how I get on with the replacement (I have also ordered a £5 one from Ebay to get me back on the road whilst waiting for the Genuine Chinese Manufactured Bafang one - they probably come from...

I decided to contact Greenway anyway. As expected, they confirmed this is not a warranty issue. But they did support me by saying that they would pay for a new crank arm if I paid for the delivery from Taiwan. To be honest, I don't think I could really have asked for more from an "Internet...

I would definitely check the torque on your pedals - I have had a quick google and it looks like the Bafang crank arms are known for being slightly weak. I think I have a metric Tap and Die set in the garage, so will see what I can do. I would contact Greenway, but I am not convinced this is a...

That particular test will have to wait :( On my last ride, towards the end the left pedal started to wobble. On checking, it looked like it had worked slightly loose in the crank arm - the threads are now pretty messed up - what on earth do they make these cranks from - chocolate? 50 miles...

Assist level 5, Curent Limit 14amps (too low!), and keep current of 70. i.e. only 9.8amps when spinning away. Like you suggest, I will give 20amps current limit and keep current of 60 a go. I will reserve assist level 5 for 20 second burst until the new battery arrives!

Still not enough welly on the Greenway for the big hill on Sunday - but I had done a 30 mile ride on a non-assisted bike on Friday, so my legs were a bit heavy - otherwise an improvement on how it rode before. So I've bitten the bullet and ordered a 15Ah 36V 30Q Dolphin Pack from Jimmy - should...

Full Susser 8fun rear hub drive Ebike for under a Grand!

I notice that the hardtail has: "Battery PANASOSIC CELL Li-ION, DC36V 11.0AH" Assuming that is Panasonic (and not really Panasosic), that could be interesting if sold as a spare for £170 like his 10.4AH Samsung celled batteries were.

    Greenway Cross City

Couldn't resist going out for a quick spin! After a short (1 mile) ride, it now seems to ride how I hoped it would, despite the controller being configured to draw less power from the battery. I'm looking forward to the ride on Sunday!

    Greenway Cross City

Agreed - after a bit more reading, I'm upping Keep Current to 70% and going with a current limit of 13A. This should keep me within the limits of the battery once going and provide me with the welly I want when going up hill. Alas I won't have time to test tomorrow, but will be doing my...

Ha - just spotted that. I would assume that the display value overides that, but will change it anyway.

Thanks both. I've plugged in and read all the data from the controller. I'm attaching screen grabs here in the unadulterated state for future reference. The only change I've made so far is to drop the Current Limit from 20Amps down to 11Amps to try and help preserve the integrity of the...

    Greenway Cross City

Interesting. I've got the lead, but not done anything with it yet - do you have to take the motor casing off to plug it in, or is there somewhere you can plug in closer to the display unit? (I've been too busy to look yet!). The controller may be a 20amp controller, but is that full 20amps...

    Rear hub kit wanted

Which Bafang mid-drive bike did you try? It requires a different riding technique to the Crossfire - particularly going up hills. The Crossfire has lots of torque and is quite happy for you to stomp on the pedals and give you a big shove, regardless of which gear you are in. With the standard...

    Thoughts on Carrera Crossfire-E

Yes. Just press and hold the "i" key for around 6 seconds to toggle between KMH and MPH. Enjoy the bike when it arrives!

Is there any point in Over Volting a mid-drive motor?

Thanks - just wanted to make sure I wasn't missing something. Just need to save a few pennies now to get a 30Q pack from Eclipsebikes (they seem to be well regarded and not outrageously priced).

Is there any point in Over Volting a mid-drive motor?

Running a 36v hub motor with a 48v battery is a proven way to increase top speed (subject of course to legal restrictions, controller limitations etc). With a 36v mid-drive motor wound to be at peak efficiency at (say) 100rpm, what benefits does running with a 48v battery give? Presumably max...

Difference between 250w vs 350w Bafang 8Fun hub motor

Are you looking for something with more oomph than a Crossfire-E? If so, be aware that the Suntour Crossfire-E already has a fairly powerful motor / controller combination, so you need to be picky in selecting something that has noticeably better performance. My Crossfire-E has similar...

    Greenway Cross City

I went out for another ride this evening. Much better. I'm still waiting for the replacement disc to arrive, so didn't go hell for leather. I did keep the assist level on 3 and used a gear or two lower than I would normally use up the hills. Sag was not noticeable through my legs, but the...

    Giant E Bike sizes beware

If this is the 2017 model, it also now has the "integrated" battery pack, which probably also limits their options with geometry compared to the 2016 model. I assume this is the 2017 model we are talking about? (although the 2016 geometry charts are also lacking in information so that may be...
