Two things, 1 With hub gears you can have the old standard heavier chains and sprockets. 2 I still don't understand these percentages. Take the Nexus 3 for instance with a quoted 200% range. What does this mean? Does it mean that if bottom gear is 33 inches, second will be 66 inches and...

A question for Flecc!! What is the range of these hub gears. At present I have a 42 chain ring driving an 11-32 cassette which gets me up the steepest hills. However, I could put an 11-36 cassettte on the wheel if I felt really lazy. With a hub gear you are stuck with the in built ratios...

Well, I have just come in from a ride. Didn't go anywhere particular, spent some time trickling along a country lane that I have known since a boy (a LONG time ago). Saw things I have never noticed in all the times I have howled along it on motor cycles, sped along it in cars and campervans...

On the socket illustrated, there is what appears to be a half inch square socket drive. Half an inch is about 12.5 mm.

No lock is secure! Angle grinders etc will cut through them in no time flat. Even as we call for bike lanes etc, perhaps we should also call for secure parking?
