    Saddle

Well they are good, but I found the present R2 not up to the job as regards severe cobbles etc. Mind you, I am 105 kilos!

Gears, How Many is Too Many?

I have 8 gears on my Tonaro (crank drive). 33 to 99 inches. Normally I never use 1st, 5th or 7th Even with my feeble pedalling I don't need them all.

    Trailer charging?

I have often wondered about a trailer to carry lead acid batteries. The ones on my boat are 88ah and each weighs 19 kilos. Three of them in a trailer would give 36 volt 88ah. But, unlike Lipo etc, Peukerts law starts to interfere with expected power draw.

    Saddle

Thought you would like to see this communication Obviously Rido care about their product Hi Mike, Glad to read that you eventually found the R2 to your liking. As regards its suitability for electric biking, you’re correct when you say that saddles really have to be more robust...

    Commuter Specific Clothing

I have tried using my sailing boots before now! They are not waterproof, but made of neoprene and like a wet suit let in a small amount of water that gets warmed by your body. From then on they are wonderful and your feet comfortable....................I'll get my coat!

    Seagull's the name!

But isn't it the case that these sorts of things are preventing e-biking becoming more popular? With all respect to the advertiser, the paucity of details in his advert, the absence of any suggestion that he is a bike dealer, no mention of repairs, spare parts etc. It is so easy to nip over to...

I suppose it qualifies as an ebike

There is always some chancer! No battery charger, probably battery gone to rags years ago and he wants £450 for what was a huge flop!

    Now, this is clever!

The problem is that amongst an individuals possessions, few items would benefit from this plug. Most are rarely unplugged. Neat as it is, not many things would truly benefit and having to swivel it all around would become a chore. I am thinking of the electric drills, planer, sanders, wall...

Cyclemaster "Petrol" Hub Motor Anyone ?

Taking me back a bit now! Quite a few of my friends also had cyclemasters which in my area predominated as opposed to all the other types. In our ignorance, we thought that they were 32cc models, but at long last, Flecc has disabused that notion. They handled all the main hills in Swansea with...

Cyclemaster "Petrol" Hub Motor Anyone ?

Ps. That plug lead, although looking original will need a TV suppressor. I remember fitting them to mine and my friends cyclemasters

Cyclemaster "Petrol" Hub Motor Anyone ?

Flecc, Are you absolutely sure about all the black ones being 25 cc? I recall an awful lot of black ones about, but only a few grey ones. I notice the bike in the photograph has rim brakes, it could be one of the very early ones I have read about that did not have the coaster brake, or more...

    Rain

Thanks for the reply, obviously no good for me. My ordinary glasses are 'transitional' and darken in sunlight. Mike

    Clamp style amp meters

Thanks Ogoi, No good for my bike because of the need to separate the cables, but ideal for my boat. Mike

    Clamp style amp meters

Has anyone used a clamp style amp meter to measure amps on their bike? The reason I ask is that besides wishing to measure the bike, I also have an electric outboard motor.

    Raleigh

Well, I think that if e-bikes are to become more popular, throttles will have to be retained. Many possible riders, particularly the older ones simply cannot pedal continuously. At present, I am having problems with my hips and knees, I still ride, but reserve the limited pedal power I have for...

    Rain

What are 'riding glasses'? My trouble is that I need to wear glasses all the time and in heavy rain they get covered in rain drops. I was wearing a woolly hat at the time, I've got a helmet but it does not have a peak, perhaps a new helmet with a peak is the answer.

    Rain

I got caught out when it started to rain, took shelter under a tree but the drips kept falling on me. It was only after about 5 minutes and by now soaking wet that I remembered I had a cycling cape in the pannier. Although not too good and likely to blow about, it was wonderful! I pulled it over...

Is enough being done to bring new consumers to e-bikes?

Exactly, I am 6'2". Not only am I taller, but my skeleton is wider and deeper front to back. At 105 kilos I am not at all fat. I just wish manufacturers would join the present day.
