    2 New Juicy Bikes

@bradgirl - I found adjusting the disk brakes on my Juicy a bit tricky also. However after consulting with Bob, it's very easy - you just need an additional Allen key to adjust the outer pad. Instructions here. On the battery, the bolts securing the backplate came off very quickly. I keep...

    300miles on a juicy.

You beat me to it - I was going to ask if it could go in the manual. That said, I am not sure it would have helped me, since I rarely am in the habit of reading them :o

    300miles on a juicy.

You're absolutely right - the outer pad can be reached with a smaller (4mm?) hex key and adjusts very well indeed. I would not have thought to try that without your hints - thanks. Very hidden indeed (and the grub screw is indeed a red herring). That turns out to have been a big help...

    300miles on a juicy.

Hi Bob Well, that is interesting. For the one side, I am adjusting the obvious inner pad via the magnetic screw-lid. I did also find the grub-screw adjuster, but as far as I could tell it simply bites into the side of the inner pad, locking it into place - which I thought was rather...

    300miles on a juicy.

I am the same height as you, and the Sport fits me well. It is a large bike, and so I think it might be less suitable for a much shorter rider. Just raise the saddle a bit, and you're good to go.

    300miles on a juicy.

Cheers Rob. I am also a Juicy owner (Sport 2010) and reviewed my model positively back in October after a few months of ownership. I would concur on the brakes though - they are by Zoom, which I can't say I've heard of. I've found that mine need constant adjustment - adjusted too far out...

    Electric bike insurance recommendations

I just came across this warning about Cycleguard. They say that theft of parts is not covered by this insurer, and checking the small print, it looks like they're quite correct: OK, so in addition to my above requirements, I'd like parts insurance as well. You'd think it'd come as standard

    Electric bike insurance recommendations

I parked my bike recently at New Street Station in Birmingham, and retrieved it late at night. I was approached by a member of security staff who said that I was lucky my bike was still there - three had been stolen that very day, and "gangs were operating in the area". I have an excellent (£60)...

    2 New Juicy Bikes

Cool :). I am sometimes in the city centre on a weekend, and do Hockley to Moseley several times a week.

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

Heh - after all that! And I thought I was a troublemaker ;)

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

How about changing the attitudes of other cyclists, as per the original post? ;)

    2 New Juicy Bikes

Cheers Scotty, but will stick with my Juicy Sport for the time being :) Clarification: my contribution to this thread dates back from around August last year, when I was looking for an electric bike.

    2 New Juicy Bikes

Mark, just looked at your link, and noticed that all the dealership web addresses on the Google locator are broken. The Peak MTB does look very nice, btw!

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

There are probably some pundits that are best ignored, but I find Monbiot's pieces to be thoroughly researched and considered - even if I don't like the conclusion. One might be able to mount a cogent argument about the dangers of speed cameras, but has such a claim been rigorously reviewed...

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

@lectureral - I agree entirely about the division of morality and legality. I'm not in favour of adherence to the law from an authoritarian perspective - I'm solidly anti-authoritarian, in fact. But I am worried about a perception of lawlessness around cycling - whether it is justified or not -...

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

I don't mean to offend anyone here when I say I'm surprised as well. On another thread, I think a majority of community members were opposed to people removing the speed limiters from their bikes, on the basis that a perceived lawlessness would damage the reputation of (electric bike) cyclists...

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

I should have known better than to open that particular can of worms, if only to avoid going seriously off-topic ;) But in answer to your question, I suspect it was this chap's fault and probably this article in particular. His point about either side of the debate putting forward a...

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

I see your point, but councils are generally better informed than members of the public about accident statistics. The suggestion that "one life would be saved" is quite hard to prove statistically, but a significant change to accident rates (up or down) after a road configuration change (e.g...

Educating fellow cyclists - what do you reckon?

As I popped out to lunch today, I pondered another thing that I think underscores a communitarian aspect of criticising another person's perceived poor behaviour. Directly making a criticism of another adult is, in effect, by-passing the law, and allowing differences of opinion to be resolved in...

@z0mb13e - thanks, good to know I'm not in a minority of one! ;)
