Me too. I'm determined to be less of a fair-weather rider this year and not stow the bike away for the winter. Means wrapping up well and getting some use out of the various items of water/wind proof apparel I bought over the last couple of years with the intention of doing that.
I see the wire support now - it would seriously need that and it strikes me as an afterthought when they realised that heavier loads would just cause the holder to swivel on the round bars, way beyond the ability of the clamp to tighten enough.
Something like NeverWet is designed for an occasional protection in the event of being caught out by a heavy shower, etc and would need re-proofing every so often. It's no substitute for a proper waterproofing job, using mechanical or goopy means.

I've been a fan of trashy fiction and sci-fi for decades. I like stuff that's been reasonably well researched and holds water (ie, doesn't burst the bubble of suspension of disbelief), especially technically based stuff. Nothing boils my pee more than an author who's just jumped on a bandwagon...
It's just another ebay/Paypal/Courier rip-off. Buy goods from the US, most of which, being used and under a certain value wouldn't attract any interest from the C&E anyway, even if they were dutiable.
