    blowout....

I wonder if the Chinese 26" spec is slightly different to ours. Could cause some looseness of fit.

    blowout....

I run my Fat Frank rear at 40psi and that's with me (105kg), bike, battery, motor, shopping, other crap, etc, on it. Anything approaching 30psi and I can feel it start to squirm on cornering, but 40 is just nice for comfort. Actually, it's really handy to know that I could sorely abuse the rim...

    Testing/Fixing Cree T6 battery packs

Those four-cell packs supplied with those lights have cheap third-rate cells in them, so I'm not too surprised they've given up. Cut your losses and bin them, replacing with something decent and you'll get hundreds of cycles out of them.

Err... That headline - it's not quite right.

    Crown loses appeal

Well, he didn't set out to kill anyone, and I'm sure the judges know more about the weight of evidence than you do - or me, for that matter. One thing I'm not comfortable with, is the likes of roadcc, where the braying donkeys come out in force calling for the head of any hapless sod who has the...

    Crown loses appeal

He clipped the back wheel. Sort of unfortunate occurance could happen to anyone, especially a High Court Judge on his way home from the golf club and that's what must be borne in mind. It's got nothing to do with the likes of us what Their Lordships get up to. <tugs forelock furiously>

mobility scooter & moter bike alarm

Aldidl sell the screaming padlocks from time to time. I had one on a trailer out back and was intrigued to hear this odd random chirruping noise one morning. Don't let them get wet... When it dried out it was fine :)

    I know the economy's a bit crap...

... but it's not *that* bad, surely? BBC News - Mars One: More than 850 Irish people apply for space mission Hey, half a percent rise into growth, today. Can't say fairer than that.

Hub gear servicing - Alfine 11

What! How 098462647 Much! The precious juice must be extracted from the baobab tree on the third Thursday in May, every alternate year, by specially selected veiled priestesses. Jings; given the base oil is tuppence and any additives are tuppence, I'd spit in their eyes before I'd pay the...

Natural gearing - seems nature got there 1st (again !)

I got bitten by something in July and a week later developed a low-grade fever, with hot and cold flushes, chills, aches, pains, dizziness, etc. That lasted for about ten days or so and I never caught sight of the little bleeder that caused it. I hadn't put the two events together right away...

Natural gearing - seems nature got there 1st (again !)

One question immediately raises itself - Why on Earth has an article published on the University of Cambridge's own site got microseconds in quotation marks? And then goes on to explain what a microsecond is? Unbelievable.

    Small LiFePO4 batteries

Yep, unfortunately that's all they are. The seller is willing to make them up as required, so I'll ask him/her if they have the 2.6Ah Konions to match the Bosch ones. Actually, when I read that Konions had been discontinued, it's quite possible only the larger sizes were. If so, I'm left...
