    Yamaha 500w battery 2017

Whatever you think about Martin's business model, £849 rather gives the lie to those on here who assert batteries are going to drop in price. And to be fair to Martin, he does often have stock when no one else does. He was one of the very few retailers who had a Bosch Classic battery when I...

    HAIBIKE XDURO FullSeven S RX

It will probably give you a very similar 15mph+ experience. I've not tried a Bosch Speed pedelec, but have spoken to a couple of people who have. Both said there's fair amount of effort needed to cruise at over 15mph, which sounds very like my dongled Classic 250w motor.

    HAIBIKE XDURO FullSeven S RX

The Newton metre figures quoted on the website indicate the motor labelled as 350w produces a bit less torque than the CX one. It's all moot anyway, given how hard it is to make comparable torque measurements. As regard power, 275% or 300% assist doesn't mean a lot, which is why I called it...

    HAIBIKE XDURO FullSeven S RX

The bike has the Bosch Speed pedelec motor, which is nominally rated at 350w. However, it is tuned for speed not torque, so produces marginally less torque than the CX motor. Also the maximum assist in Bosch speak is 275%, compared to 300% for the CX motor. The shop is technically correct...

    Chinese Mid-Drive Crank Motors

You seem quite taken with the Max Drive, but it looks to me like no more than a Bosch Classic knock-off, probably with inferior control software. It will only sell on cheapness, but early indications are it's not cheap when attached to a half-decent bike. As regards batteries being 'about to...

How much is a Bosch 500w battery worth?

Too many people have a dreadful attitude to defrauding insurance companies. Only last weekend, a member of my cycling group told us how his iPhone broke down which he turned into an accidental damage claim, thereby thieving about £500. Very muddled thinking, the guy is otherwise honest and...

    spare bosch powerpack 500

A lot of internet retailers move prices up and down depending on sales numbers and the number of times a product is viewed, or even the number of times an ISP address views the product. Normally that movement won't be significant. Something rings a bell about Ridewill advertising expensive...

    Stolen Bike Check.

Assuming the bike is being sold legitimately I reckon it's hard to judge a fair price. A new battery and lock would be £700, but the bigger problem is there's no way to test the motor. You could put a borrowed battery on the bike, but as soon as the battery clicks home there's no way of...

Fair enough, it might have been pro-cycling where I saw a motor for sale.

    spare bosch powerpack 500

I've heard of Ridewill but not used them. Looks like about £540 shipped to the UK. I've dealt with Bike Discount a few times and always found them spot on. Their price includes shipping. For the sake of a little under eighty quid in a near £600 purchase, I would stick with Bike Discount...

As I said, motors are also available from a German retailer whose name I forget. If anyone could find that site, you could. But it's not correct to repeatedly post you cannot buy a Bosch motor without one to exchange, because you can buy a motor for straight cash.

    fast short distance bike advice

If you only want to do the four mile journey, a quality push bike is worth serious consideration. Obvious suggestion would be a lightweight road bike, they fly along in comparison to a lumpy hybrid. Another to consider is a Brompton folding bike. Due to the small wheels, they accelerate...

No big discounts, although there's a bit off from Bike Discount in Germany. Reliable retailer, if they say they have it in stock you can believe it. https://www.bike-discount.de/en/buy/bosch-battery-powerpackframe-500-performance-anthrazit-501581?currency=3&delivery_country=190

    Hello

I'm not familiar with the fork on Wisper bikes, but a reasonable quality cro-moly steel fork will give much more comfort than a cheap suspension fork. Ill-informed buyers who think they are well-informed refuse to believe that so makers slap on a cheap and nasty sus fork.

    Hello

Looks like it to me. At £455 at four or so years old it's held its price pretty well. I hope the seller didn't misrepresent it as a 'Wisper SE90' to achieve a higher price, but I fear he might have done otherwise where would the OP have got the name and model number from?

New to this thinking of commuting

An hour plus in the saddle each way plus a day's work in the middle is quite onerous, but if you are genuinely OK with that your plan could work. Bear in mind a commute is hard on the bike as well as the rider. With £2K to spend I would go for a Bosch or Yamaha powered crank drive ebike which...

    anyone missing a bosch bike

You've posted several times about the impossibility of buying a Bosch motor without one to exchange. While I agree Bosch seem to discourage straight cash sales, it can be done. This site appears to have motors for sale, and I'm sure I've seen them from one of the German retailers, although I...

We need to be a bit careful about terminology here The Cube SUV has 2.4" Supermoto tyres which, while quite podgy, are not what most cyclists would call 'fat'. They have a shallow tread and are designed for road and well-made cycle paths. The Cube fatbike is called NuTrail Hybrid - second...

Fat bikes are far more versatile than just snow and sand, but not really suited for prolonged road use. Although a few road miles on a fat bike won't make it turn into pumpkin. If the OP fancies a fat bike, why not? The Queen song should always be borne in mind: "I like to ride my bike, I...

    New to the elec scene

Good to see a new ebiker looking at buying a quality ebike. But to 'enjoy cycling again and lose weight' do you really need £5k or more of full-sus mountain bike? Bear in mind you can get exactly the same motor system - the heart of the bike - on an ebike costing under £2k. Cubes look good...
